Michael Reagan: John McCain Hates Me

Until last night, when I watched the Republican debate, I had no idea how much John McCain dislikes me and just about everybody else but Rudy Giuliani, who if you believe The New York Times is a pretty good hater himself.
As I watched McCain and Governor Romney go at it during the debate at the Reagan Library I was struck by the huge gap that separates McCain -- whose contempt for his fellow humans is patently obvious -- and my dad, Ronald Reagan, who had nothing but the deepest affection and respect for the American people.
The feeling is mutual between McCain and me. I dont like the way he treats people. You get the impression that he thinks everybody is beneath him. He seems to be saying, I was a war hero, and you had damn well better treat me as your superior.
He has contempt for conservatives who he thinks can be duped into thinking hes one of them, despite such blatantly anti-conservative actions as his support for amnesty for illegal immigrants, his opposition to the Bush tax cuts which got the economy rolling again, and his campaign finance bill which skewed the political process and attacked free speech.

I've misjudged Michael Reagan. I've was convinced he's more concerned with ingratiating himself with the GOP's power elite - the ones who are tumbling over each other now to endorse mcCain - than in telling hard truths.
Reagan deserves more credit for independent thought than I was giving him.

Michael Medved is twisting himself into a pretzel trying to defend McCain. Today he played fast and loose with the truth suggesting Nancy Reagan has "let it be known" she supports John McCain. Michael Reagan was mentioned in the same breath, leaving the impression Michael also supports McCain.
Medved has pissed me off ! Liberal tactics coming from our side? Ashamed.

"McCain will be getting his, and soon."
Roger that. If McCain gets the nod be ready to suddenly start hearing the phrase "Keating 5" every day for 9 months. Also, I recall hearing something around Christmas about the NYT sitting on a sex scandal regarding McCain and that McCain had begged them to hold off on it until after Iowa. Haven't heard anything about that one since.

PRICELESS!
I cant help it. I know in my heart he [McCain] hates me [Reagan], and every conservative. If he gets the nomination the only way he could win against Hillary or Barack Obama would be to be part of a McCain-Limbaugh ticket.

Rush and everyone needs to repent and join the party again. McCain needs to be honest and join the party of his principles -- the Democratic Party. I will NEVER cast a vote for McCain. I will not dishonor the Constitution and cast a vote for that vile, unstable, vengeful man.

I am a Vietnam Vet and I bet McCain hates me also. Probably because I managed to complete my tour without getting captured.

Your boy McCain had beetter do a lot of fence mending, and he is going to lose any chance of winning in November. Believe it or not, but Gerald Ford lost in 1976 in part because Carter convinced many conservative Southerners that he was a (true) moderate.
