My tactical voting approach of supporting Huck in states that Romney will not contest in the South leaves open the possibility of a deadlock going into the convention.

So I would support Huckabee in those states Romney won’t win in or contest. That’s the ones like Oklahoma on east to Tennesee, Alabama, Georgia, West Virginia, not to forget good ole Arkansas.

Supporting Huck in California would be disastrous to Romney’s chances to beat McCain.

McCain needs to lose as much as possible on Tuesday and California is key.

Romney will win Utah and Massachusetts, plus Colorado.

Otherwise its wide open with McCain a likely winner almost everywhere else unless things change quick.

Votes need to center on Huck in the aforementioned states, otherwise Romney to tie down McCain so he loses as many states as possible.

His Arkansas record isn’t all that great.

Huckabee's record is FAR more conservative than Romney's. And, he is absolutely the only one that could be trusted to nominate judges to the courts.

That’s major truth on the courts.

There is no questioning Huck’s social conservatism. But you can question the social and economic conservatism of Romney and McCain.

And for all the talk about Huck’s record on illegals, two points are being missed.

1. As governor, Romney didn’t do anything effective about the problem either, his state had several “Sanctuary Cities.”

2. The responsibilities of a state Governor are very, very different in regards to illegal immigration than that of a Federal President. You can’t predict actions of a candidate as a President solely off their actions as a governor, it’s apples and oragnges.

If you look at Romney’s alleged economic achievements as governor, they are almost all single year achievements. When you look at the record overall, you see very paltry, and in many cases below average, results. And the economic potential of Mass. is far greater than Arkansas.

Also, it was telling that Romney was the most popular candidate by far in the most liberal states.

This should set the anti-Huck forces into an absolute apopletic fit. Go Huck Go!

In my opinion Fred was the best conservative candidate.
The rest were not my favorites. Now with McCain so close to the nomination, he must be stopped. I believe a vote for Huckabee will make McCain the nominee. And I much rather have Romney over McCain any day, even though Romney is not perfect in every way!

Exit polls have indicated that Huckabee voters lean towards Romney.

And to be honest, Fred’s voting record in Senate wasn’t far from McCain’s. His ACU rating was south of 90%, very much in RINO territory.

I loved Fred’s platform, but his Senate record was quite different.

Number six,
he plays a mean bass and he's a traditional favorite at Free Republic's infamous quadrennial Inaugural Balls in Washington, DC. Perhaps we could persuade President Huckabee to drop by our ball and perform his rocking rendition of "Sweet Home Alabama!" Now, wouldn't that be a hoot!

No offense Boss, but Bass Players aren't exactly looked upon with envy.

Typically your Bass Player is someone who wants to play the guitar but are too inept to even pick up the most Basic Chords or play even a small riff. Case in point - John Kerry was the Bass Player in his college band ;-)
(IMO Kerry phonied all those pics 'playing' (cough) 'his' classical guitar)

On the PLUS SIDE, at least Huckabee has the right taste in instruments - he plays (owns?) a Fender© Bass. Another PLUS is I've seen pics of him carrying to his plane a Fender Stratocaster©. Now if that's the case that he can actually play the 'guitar', his stock rises immensely. He may not be another Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, Buddy Guy or Stevie Ray Vaughan but HEY -- neither am I (darn arthritis).
But he loses a point for carrying his Strat to his plane uncased. It looked like it was raining (drizzling) so THAT'S a BIG no-no. I wouldn't even do that with an Epiphone. /s

My point is (yes there is one), let's say he "Plays the Guitar", not 'he plays the Bass'. It'll carry a bit more weight. And it sounds cooler :-)
(And If he can play any of the thousands of three chord 'I, IV, V' rock songs on his Strat - he really IS a "Guitar Player")

Oh and for what its worth, since you mention 'Sweet Home Alabama', that isn't a I, IV, V song. It's a 'backwards' three chord V, IV, I song; D, C, G :-)

I am a person that is weary of the religious battle that has been waged in this election. It has opened the door for a guy like McCain.

I disagree. I believe what gave us McCain were all the attacks by conservatives against Huckabee after Iowa. NO fire was directed toward McCain.

Conservatives are now reaping what we sewed.

First, I didn’t go there, Jim Robinson did.

Second, rating the presidents is subjective anyway. I assumed our ratings would be similar. Although, I do believe I hold current president Bush in a much higher regard than most other conservatives on this board. In fact, I’d call good a very good “southern” president, which I realize contradicts my counter point to the orignal post.

On the other hand, I was assuming that their still remains a lot of hostility towards Bush from a lot of fellow conservatives. Thus I made the counter point assuming that many would be viewing Bush as nuetral or bad.

Personally I think Bush may go down as one of the great ones. If his lower level judges turn out like his two high court nominees, we’ll all be extremely greatful. And believe me, Iraq irks me to no end. I cannot tell you how sick I am of the U.S. military being the mercenary army for middle eastern nations. But the reality of Iraq is that Bush is cleaning up the mistake his father made.

Your position assumes that Huck is keeping votes from Romney- A flawed perspective, to say the least.

Actually, my position remains the same but for a different reason now.

Huckabee came out today implying he would prefer McCain to Romney. If Huckabee were to withdraw at sometime in the future, and endorse McCain -- then his delegates would be added to McCain's total. And it looks more likely that Huckabee would endorse McCain than Romney. Therefore, those that have voted for or will vote for Huckabee would indirectly be voting for McCain once Huckabee drops out (likely) and endorses McCain (also likely).

Huck never had a chamce to win the whole thing. If that were the case he would have won Michigan, South Carolina and Florida. He didn’t win New Hampshire because he has very little appeal to those in the North and the West.

I am not knocking him as a person per say, I am saying that his appeal is very limited. Look, I am not a Mittbot at all.

We could also say thay if it wasn’t for Huck, Mitt would be ahead. I am talking politics here, thats all.

Huck came out last week supporting McCain in his lies, and it was a lie. Huck should have refused to involve himself in it. That says something about his character. He seems more interested in assuring himself a taxpayer funded job in a McCain administration than he does being a President.

One reason and only one reason to support McCain if he gets the nomination is that he will do the right thing when it comes to the war. If the right thing is not done nothing else matters.

Speaking of lies, what do you make of Romney’s claim to have been the only candidate at the debate “that ever had a job in the private sector.”

Talk about a bald, in your face lie. And there are Romney parrots abound that keep citing that as some absolute truth and reason to vote for Romney.

“I just think the possibility of a brokered convention where there could be a possibility of pulling in a well-rounded reliable conservative is an interesting development and is worth the discussion.”

If that was you’re intent you should have list #7 ONLY...heheh.

puhleeze - stop being hysterical.

God obviously puts events in the Bible to show to us mortal humans that people can and do change... that conversion to the good side is possible.

No one is claiming Mitt Romney is God ..... or that he is infallible or superior.

Just that Romney, like Paul in the New Testament, can change from the bad side to the good side.

Does you hatred for Romney run so deep that you will not even acknowledge that he, as a good and decent man, is subject to the same analytical love and emotion as yourself?
