Bill: "We Just Have to Slow Down Our Economy" to Fight Global Warming
ABC ^ | 1/31/08 | Jake Tapper

Posted on 01/31/2008 7:02:48 AM PST by xtinct

Former President Bill Clinton was in Denver, Colorado, stumping for his wife yesterday.

In a long, and interesting speech, he characterized what the U.S. and other industrialized nations need to do to combat global warming this way: "We just have to slow down our economy and cut back our greenhouse gas emissions 'cause we have to save the planet for our grandchildren."

At a time that the nation is worried about a recession is that really the characterization his wife would want him making? "Slow down our economy"?

I don't really think there's much debate that, at least initially, a full commitment to reduce greenhouse gases would slow down the economy….So was this a moment of candor?

He went on to say that his the U.S. -- and those countries that have committed to reducing greenhouse gases -- could ultimately increase jobs and raise wages with a good energy plan..

So there was something of a contradiction there.

Or perhaps he mis-spoke.

Or perhaps this characterization was a description of what would happen if there isn't a worldwide effort…I'm not quite certain.

You can watch that one clip HERE or you can watch the whole speech at the website of ABC News' great Denver affiliate KMGH by clicking HERE.

It's worth watching -- he also pushed back against a 9/11 conspiracy theorist heckling him.

But not BILL’s economy. The vomitous ex-president has earned over $50 million since he left office by giving $50,000 a throw speeches at colleges and fawning Leftist dinners.

Of course... Marx dogma prescribes that there be an * elite * class... same with Mussollini - elites and peasants ... same with Stalin

And, if you notice there's always some cause or another to try to get the peasants under control... War on Poverty (still entirely too many impoverished children); War on Drugs (ineffective to the point where elites' children are picked up on drug charges --> Al Gore's kid); War on Tobacco (two 35 year studies '01,'02 state that second hand smoke affects no one)... and on and on

These people need serious psychiatric help --> extreme Narcisstic Paranoid Personality Disorders...

I know he thinks everyone is stupid, and he might have a case for that - America re-elected him in 1996, after they knew he was a liar, conned us in 1992 and was a sexual predator...

But the global warming scam is just another part of the plan to destroy America and push her towards the new world order. Break America’s economy by raising the costs of business, create the first international tax to pay for global warming to be run through the UN and break our heritage and culture through the influx of 50 million Hispanics in the next 5 years - 15 MM here now and all the relatives and others who who will come in.

North American union first, then world governance emerging for the current UN.

Are you ready to die for your freedom.. Maybe a handful of us.

Bubba is too old to be out by himself. He should stay home and never go out, not even shopping, without adult supervision.

One of several money quotes that will appear in the general election. This one will be extremely useful.

This is a rare moment of candor, brought on by the fear that the extreme left is abandoning Hillary. It is a staple of the One World government/ Third Way crowd. It is the sacrifice that Hillary has been “promising”.

Bill thinks that now that McCain is destined to be the Republican nominee, he can say it out loud, because McCain is on the same page as the Clintons on global warming and caps, as demonstrated by the McCain/Lieberman bill.

The only reason that Bill is being candid on the subject of economic sacrifice is precisely because he thinks that John McCain will be the Republican nominee and McCain is on the same page as the Clintons, as demonstrated by his McCain/Lieberman cap and trade scheme.

McCain made a fool of himself in the debate last night. Romney was respectful, but when McCain goes up against Hillary, Bill will be anything but respectful. Bill will be out there suggesting that McCain is having a senior moment and snickering. People will believe him.

When doing a search use the search drop down list and select "Match Exact Phrase" - that's how I do it and it seems to work great.

Thanks for the tip, lol.

You know, I’m beginning to wonder if Bubba is not consciously or subconsciously trying to blow it for Hillary. (No pun intended).:)

I think Hillary should take this “economy slow-down” idea and run with it. I encourage her to make this the centerpiece of her campaign :)

I can imagine the bumper stickers and slogans:

Save the Planet, Go Gaunt
We’ll Take Things Away For Your Own Good
Where’s the Tofu?
Building a Bridge to the 18th Century
Electricity: It’s Overrated
It’s Ecology Stupid
