Liberals constantly claim that America has Bush/Cheney fatigue, yet it’s nice to see the candidate with the momentum is Dick Cheney’s cousin! Even the press has a crush on Obama. Obama walks on water! Obama walks on water! Obama makes flowers grow! He speaks in ways that move people to tears! Even Hillary has tears in her eyes because of Obama!

Just before her Iowa shellacking, Hillary said “now the fun starts.” Yes, we’re having so much fun!

For eight years, the press kept telling us how “popular” the Clintons are, that America “longs” for the 90s, yet even the Democrats have Clinton fatigue. For twelve months, we were told the primaries would be Hillary’s coronation, but her coronation isn’t coronating.

Yet . . . this is not to gloat. The easiest thing to do right now would be to gloat about how the Invincible/Unbeatable Clinton Machine is taking a beating by some rookie upstart barely out of the Illinois legislature, but I’m not gloating. In other words, if gloating about the fact that, for a whole year, we were told how women would vote massively for Hillary, yet women massively rejected Hillary in South Carolina Saturday, you’re looking in the wrong place. No gloating here.

In fact, even though a humongous majority of South Carolina’s primary voters were women (61%), Hillary lost in a landslide — but I won’t mention this since I’m not gloating.

Not a peep from me either about the fact that the voters who were angriest with Bill and Hillary were African-American voters, yet we were told all last year that Hillary had the black vote all locked up because Bill was America’s first African-American president. Toni Morrison, who called Bill Clinton the “first black president” endorsed Obama Monday.

Nor will I mention how Hillary had banked everything on “electability”, yet she got a drubbing in South Carolina by an empty swimsuit. Even the Breck Girl was just a few points behind Hillary — a real bitter pill to swallow! But, as I said, not a word about it from me.

Another thing my lips are sealed tight about is the fact that Hillary thought the emergence of the economy as the top issue for voters would work to her advantage, keeping the race close in South Carolina on the assumption that voters would rate Hillary as the more “experienced” candidate to “handle” the economy. Exit polls showed voters rating the economy as the No. 1 issue voted for Obama. Am I going to mention this? No.

Before the vote Saturday, pundits were fawning over Bill Clinton — marveling at how well his campaign tactics were working to boost Hillary. “The Terminator! Bill Clinton is a man with a plan: Distract Hillary’s rival from his message, then destroy him as an option” — Chris Matthews. “The trouble (for Obama) is that now he’s got involved in a game of political tactics, and he’s playing with The Major Tacticians . . . The Clintons are masters of this kind of political campaign” — Katty Kay, BBC. “It is working. The Clinton campaign certainly think it’s working . . . they’ve decided this is the way to go [let Bill loose, play the race card, ethnic card, gender card], and it’s working” — Elisabeth Bumiller, New York Times. Exit polls showed six in 10 voters in South Carolina said Bill Clinton’s campaigning played a big role in how they voted — 63 percent of them voted against Hillary (but I refuse to mention this too).

Please. If I were gloating, wouldn’t I be noting how big name Democrats are now fleeing the Clintons? Kent Conrad. Patrick Leahy. Tim Johnson. Ben Nelson. John Kerry. Claire McCaskill. Then came news of Caroline Kennedy, daughter of President John F. Kennedy. On Sunday she endorsed Obama; the next day, Obama bags the Mother of All Endorsements — all 500 pounds of Teddy Kennedy — and word on the street is that a flood of endorsements by other Democrat honchos (Jimmy Carter, Al Gore) is in the works.

I suppose I could gloat about how the Clinton camp can’t seem to figure out what their message is (but I won’t). Experience. Change. No Change — but Experience. Experience Plus Change. No Change like Experience! The Hillary I know. Ready from Day One, Unlike Obama. Organizing for Change. Ready to Lead, Ready to Do Change, with Experience, Plus Hope. Hoping for Change is Hopeless, Although I Can Deliver. Making Change Happen since Obama was a Baby! The latest is something along the lines of, Ready from Day One (tears) to Lead (more tears) for Change.

But. You still can’t count Draculita out. If she hangs in for Super-Duper Tuesday and grabs enough big states the press then proclaims her ‘The Comeback Kid!’ and they’re back on her payroll. The Clintons insisted on a compressed primary calender for ‘08 but right now that’s working against them since one week isn’t enough time to make yourself “likeable” against an “aura” candidate, so anything can happen. The “superdelegates”? They usually go with the flow. In the meantime, the Clinton’s ‘Polished Election Machine’ and the Clinton ‘Brand’ are taking a shellacking. Heh, heh, heh! Oops, I wasn’t gloating — honest!

In 1959, when Lee Kuan Yew assumed the position of Prime Minister of Singapore, his leadership began a long process of national transformation. Initially, disagreements between ethnic groups and a weak economic base made the future of this tiny nation uncertain. By 1990, when Lee stepped down from his position, Singapore had become a model country for ethnic harmony and a thriving economy. After serving as Senior Minister, Lee became Minister Mentor in 2004. Since then he has been an invaluable resource to Singapore’s cabinet and to other leaders around the world.

Insights from the older generation can greatly benefit the younger generation. Although Moses had been used by God to perform miracles and deliver Israel out of bondage in Egypt, he still listened to the advice of his father-in-law Jethro (Ex. 18:24). Jethro had watched his son-in-law care for the concerns of the people and observed: “Both you and these people who are with you will surely wear yourselves out. For this thing is too much for you” (v.18). Moses followed Jethro’s advice to select, train, and delegate others to share the workload (vv.22-24).
