Republicans had better rush to come to grips with the reality that all of our smart options for the 2008 election cycle are already off the table. Unlike past elections, Republicans actually had two very strong conservatives to unite behind in the 2008 primaries, Thompson and Hunter, and they failed to unite behind either of them.
The time to stand up for a true traditional conservative Republican has passed. The chance to do something smart no longer exists. Now we have one last shot and less than one week to do something that is at least half-smart.
John McCain is an Outright Liar
It is no less than Clintonesque to listen to John “amnesty” McCain call himself “the official new leader of the conservative movement in America.”
McCain is not being nominated by conservatives. He is being nominated by liberal Independents in open primaries and liberal RINOs in closed primaries. He has very little support among conservatives and he can’t win in November as a result.
But more importantly, on the issues facing our nation today, John McCain is no more conservative or Republican than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. In fact, after more than three decades in Washington DC, his friends are not Washington conservatives, but Washington liberals like Clinton, Obama, Kennedy, Lieberman, Graham and Martinez.

Sadly, you either have no idea what you are talking about (or) you are FAR from honest in this discussion.
Reagan is a conservative icon to modern day Republicans. He was my favorite 20th Century president too. However, he was NOT the founder of the conservative movement and he was NOT always conservative in his views or policies. That’s a reality you either lack the knowledge or the courage to admit.
I find you to be ill-informed and completely dishonest.
Apparently, I’m not alone. Several have already given up trying to get an honest answer out of you. I give up too.
Just know that you are helping McCain right now and promising to help Clinton-Obama in November.
Tough to imagine Reagan doing either...

Well, check out what Factcheck.org says about Romney. He’s not any better.
He brought them in to broaden the appeal of conservatism not to share equal time with liberals. The point that disgust me is the implication made that Reagan was a liberal convert. He was not.
As far as what has happened since to the party that is our fault, myself included. We have drawn so many lines in the sand we are now standing in the surf.
I say no more.

I started supporting him 24 hours after the two conservative candidates left the race and our worst candidate become the front-runner.
It’s no more complicated than that.
Stop wasting time and energy trying to destroy the last chance we have to avoid complete disaster.
Since you have no one to support, stop trying to get others to join you in doing nothing.

You can drive a stake in it now by allowing McCain to advance, or you can do what’s necessary to keep it alive, to fight another day.

Allegedly, the pro-life movement wants to CONVERT people to our side, but the attitude I see here towards converts is baffling. Will they be smeared and ridiculed for the rest of their lives due to their past positions? Will they be hounded and treated as 2nd class citizens in the pro-life community even though we profess to want to convert more and more pro-choicers?
The arrogance is utterly baffling and I fear we turn away even more people rather than welcoming converts with open arms, hearts and minds.
