Republicans had better rush to come to grips with the reality that all of our smart options for the 2008 election cycle are already off the table. Unlike past elections, Republicans actually had two very strong conservatives to unite behind in the 2008 primaries, Thompson and Hunter, and they failed to unite behind either of them.
The time to stand up for a true traditional conservative Republican has passed. The chance to do something smart no longer exists. Now we have one last shot and less than one week to do something that is at least half-smart.
John McCain is an Outright Liar
It is no less than Clintonesque to listen to John amnesty McCain call himself the official new leader of the conservative movement in America.
McCain is not being nominated by conservatives. He is being nominated by liberal Independents in open primaries and liberal RINOs in closed primaries. He has very little support among conservatives and he cant win in November as a result.
But more importantly, on the issues facing our nation today, John McCain is no more conservative or Republican than Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama. In fact, after more than three decades in Washington DC, his friends are not Washington conservatives, but Washington liberals like Clinton, Obama, Kennedy, Lieberman, Graham and Martinez.

I usually agree with you ReaganMan... But this time, no.
There are HUGE differences between Romney and McCain. If you don’t see them, it’s because you don’t want to see them.
Put simply, at this point, now that ALL true conservatives have been eliminated from the race, a vote for anyone but Romney, including a vote for none of the above, is in fact a resulting vote FOR the worst available, be that McStain or one for the two openly socialist candidates across the aisle.
One of four candidates, Clinton, Obama, McCain or Romney will be the next President of the United States. That should be clear to everyone now.
One of the four has an overt interest in stabbing conservative right in the heart in plain daylight, Clinton.
One of the four is worse than Clinton ideologically and is not even qualified to be scout master, much less President, Obama.
One of the four has a thirty year career of stabbing conservatives in the back while calling himself a conservative, McCain.
and the last of the four Romney, is a Washington outsider, who offers conservatives at least a glimmer of hope, that conservatives can limit our losses and live to fight another day.
I have been on the side you are on for months. But all good options are off the table and we have one chance to do something “at least half-smart” at this juncture.
I hope you come around to this reality.
RATS...rats...everywhere I look rats.....nothing but rats left .....you all been snookered......wouldn’t support Thompson or Hunter .....not good enough for you......now you just got rats.....rats on the left ....rats claiming they are right ...........but they are lefties too ...........rats..........rats .............everywhere rats............nothing but rats left!
Allegedly, the pro-life movement wants to CONVERT people to our side, but the attitude I see here towards converts is baffling. Will they be smeared and ridiculed for the rest of their lives due to their past positions? Will they be hounded and treated as 2nd class citizens in the pro-life community even though we profess to want to convert more and more pro-choicers?
The arrogance is utterly baffling and I fear we turn away even more people rather than welcoming converts with open arms, hearts and minds.
Sadly, you are defining only about 15% of the population...
It’s really simple, RedGirl.
McCain is forgiven a multitude of past — and present — sins. Romney cannot be forgiven for one sin, ever. He must get down on his knees and beg forgiveness. But not McCain; he is already forgiven.
Romney gets a “truth file,” McCain doesn’t. You get the gist of it......
I live in the world of political reality and none of the liberals you mentioned meet my conservative standards. Not by a long shot. So, instead of critcizing my politics, you need to have your own reality check.
FACT: At one time or another Myth Romney has betrayed the Constitution, Reaganism, the Contract With America and the Republican Party.
Romney was for abortion rights, before he was against it (1970 v 2005)
Romney was for Roe v Wade, before he was against it, (1973 v 2005).
Romney was for gay rights, before he was against it.
Romney was for comprehensive immigration reform, before he was against it.
Romney was for gun control, before he was against it. Yet like Bush43, he would sign an assault weapons ban today.
And Romney wants the FEDS to take control of the US health care system -— 1/7th of the US economy. RomneyCare is HillaryCare, redux/reborn!
Kick that liberal Willard to the gutter, along with Mccain, Obama and Hillary.
Now, go away and take your liberal candidate, Willard the Myth with you.
“Both candidates need to be kicked to the gutter. ASAP!”
We had a chance to do that and we didn’t. Now they are the only two left in the race.
Boot McCain now and live to fight another day. Boot both of them now, and you just voted FOR Clinton/Obama.
The MSM is counting on Republicans just like you to do just that, so that Clinton/Obama can win in November with 43% of the popular vote, just like Cheater-in-Chief Bill did in 1992.
Conservatives don’t support liberals, especially abortionists like Willard the Myth. Boot Romney, along with McCain.
Btw, I don’t pay attention to the MSM. Obviously you do.
Reagan was Democrat before he was a Republican.
VERY well stated!
Remember Reagan always said the party left him, not vice versa.
Democrat or Republican are simply affiliations, Conservatism is a life philosophy.
McShame is not and never has been a conservative.I know as I'm a reconstructed southern democrat.
Unfortunately, I have to call you on your suspicious uneven application of those high standards though.
As anyone calling himself “ReaganMan” must know, a similar list of Reagan’s evolving changes of heart, including his shift from Democrat to Republican, from pro-choice to pro-life late in the game, can be posted here as well.
If you applied your Romney standards to Reagan, you could not call yourself “ReaganMan.”
I share your conservative values, but not your liberal application of those values, ignoring that Reagan made many of the same evolutionary ideological “flip-flops” that Romney has made along the way.
I find your unwillingness to be even handed in this regard to be overtly dishonest. Therefore, of no real value to the debate.
Reagan did....
Reagan was NOT always conservative, far from it.
You had better study Reagan’s many decision more carefully.
Remember Reagan always said the party left him, not vice versa.
No he was not !
It makes a great deal of sense. Watching the videos you'll see the truth, in Mitt's own words. Just like Giuliani, Romney is no conservative. Romney is a liberal to his core beliefs. The sooner you understand that fact, the better off you'll be. If you want to believe Romney's conversion on a multitude of issues, including abortion, you're believing a fairytale.
With Romney, its always political expediency that drives his politics. His many political epiphanies are part of the overall fairytale.
