It's All Over
The Corner ^ | 01/29 09:47 PM | Michael Graham

Assuming there is no shocking revelation or health issue, the GOP nomination is over. Conservatives need to start practicing the phrase "Nominee presumptive John McCa....."

Sorry, I can't say it. Not yet.

But it's true. When the campaign comes here to Massachusetts on February 5th, I'll proudly cast my vote for any option on the GOP ballot other than You-Know-Who. But it will be a futile gesture. Mr. "1/3rd Of The GOP Primary Vote" is going to be the nominee.

He's going to win the big, left-leaning states on Tuesday. Huckabee will stay in and deny Romney a one-on-one contest for GOP voters that Captain Amnesty would almost certainly lose. The result: More wins for He Who Must Not Be Named, and fewer wins for Romney—regardless of delegate count. Florida has launched the one ship that Romney's money and Rush Limbaugh cannot stop: The U.S.S. Inevitable. It's gonna happen. Even if there were a realistic pathway to stop him, the media have seized control of the process now and are declaring him inevitable. He is, after all, the favorite son of the New York Times.

So it is over. Finished. In November, we'll be sending out our most liberal, least trustworthy candidate vs. to take on Hillary Clinton—perhaps not more liberal than Barack Obama, but certainly far less trustworthy. And the worst part for the Right is that McCain will have won the nomination while ignoring, insulting and, as of this weekend, shamelessly lying about conservatives and conservatism.

You think he supported amnesty six months ago? You think he was squishy on tax cuts and judicial nominees before? Wait until he has the power to anger every conservative in America, and feel good about it.

Every day, he dreams of a world filled with happy Democrats and insulted Republicans.

In light of all the posts that this primary is over and McCain has won, I’m feasting on a donkey d!*k sandwich. Might a well start getting used to it.

I just emailed him in hopes that tomorrow he will try going positive on a candidate rather than ONLY slamming McCain.

Then all they will listen to is a nice, sound defeat in November. I’m willing to give it to ‘em, too.

Hillary has much more deeply rooted problems, do you think the butt kicking they are handing out to Obama has went unnoticed?

Do you think the 50% of people who said they would not vote for a Female for President have went away?

If this major fiasco has proven anything, it is McCain does not really give a hoot what actual Conservatives (Not CINOS) have to say.

We are a bit puffed up on our own importance INOW.

He should have done that 6 months ago with Duncan Hunter.

Rush should have Mitt Romney ... IN HIS STUDIO ... tomorrow.

Rush is not going to endorse during a primary, and he has already spoken up.

I'm almost positive he voted for Romney. He eliminated all but Rudy and with Rudy out, there is no one left but Romney to get his support, which he has nearly given without saying so.

He also said that if the nominee is one of the two people he has spurned, he may think about not supporting the Republican.

Rush has indeed spoken.

You know what, I’m not asking much. I’m asking the party to act like it has a clue what conservatism is. If that truly is too much, then I’ve been wasting their and my time for nearly 40 years. Looks like we’re pretty much in the same boat.

You take care.

Forget the “gentleman’s rules” with Rush.

If he doesn’t get off his duff, he’s going to lose his show to the “Fairness Doctrine” - because he’s standing on the sidelines.

This is getting serious.

On an unrelated note, I have come to the conclusion that FR posting rules requiring that the original liberal media titles be used, are slanting these discussions...

I am not sure that Rush was all that much help to Mitt in Florida.

“Mittens” are females for Mitt Romney. Modern day “Reardens.”

Hehehe! That's cute! :)

Rush should have Mitt Romney ... IN HIS STUDIO ... tomorrow.

FL is too far from L.A. for that, but it would be SOMETHING ELSE if Rush were a precedent-breaker in order to attempt to save the country, and endorse Romney, and maybe have him on the phone. Though I am not sure it would help. Not sure these Republicans voting for McCain listen to Rush much.

However, Rush can't be having "more fun than people should be allowed to have" as he imagines actively campaigning on his show for Nominee McCain. It's worth a shot.

Fortunately, Fred didn’t have many in his own party who are as whacked out as Teddy.

Fred is Fred...I love it.

I will probably vote for him.

I don’t believe there is one chance in a million Rush will support McCain, even with his own vote. He’s made it pretty clear he doesn’t support McCain, and he has made it pretty clear he’s not going to vote for just anyone this year.

“After Super Tuesday, I will be registering as an independent. I think it would be a great idea if tens of millions of us did the same thing.”

I will think about it for the moment, but I believe I will also change over. I wanted to vote for Fred, but that didn’t work out. Unlike some, I would have no problem at all in voting for Romney. Frankly, I think the guy would have worked his tail off and been a better president than many on this forum seem to think.

I am 59 years old and have been a Republican for all of my adult life. Today, I no longer want to be identified as such. Should McCain win the nomination, that would be the last straw for me.
