It's All Over
The Corner ^ | 01/29 09:47 PM | Michael Graham

Assuming there is no shocking revelation or health issue, the GOP nomination is over. Conservatives need to start practicing the phrase "Nominee presumptive John McCa....."

Sorry, I can't say it. Not yet.

But it's true. When the campaign comes here to Massachusetts on February 5th, I'll proudly cast my vote for any option on the GOP ballot other than You-Know-Who. But it will be a futile gesture. Mr. "1/3rd Of The GOP Primary Vote" is going to be the nominee.

He's going to win the big, left-leaning states on Tuesday. Huckabee will stay in and deny Romney a one-on-one contest for GOP voters that Captain Amnesty would almost certainly lose. The result: More wins for He Who Must Not Be Named, and fewer wins for Romney—regardless of delegate count. Florida has launched the one ship that Romney's money and Rush Limbaugh cannot stop: The U.S.S. Inevitable. It's gonna happen. Even if there were a realistic pathway to stop him, the media have seized control of the process now and are declaring him inevitable. He is, after all, the favorite son of the New York Times.

So it is over. Finished. In November, we'll be sending out our most liberal, least trustworthy candidate vs. to take on Hillary Clinton—perhaps not more liberal than Barack Obama, but certainly far less trustworthy. And the worst part for the Right is that McCain will have won the nomination while ignoring, insulting and, as of this weekend, shamelessly lying about conservatives and conservatism.

You think he supported amnesty six months ago? You think he was squishy on tax cuts and judicial nominees before? Wait until he has the power to anger every conservative in America, and feel good about it.

Every day, he dreams of a world filled with happy Democrats and insulted Republicans.

A nice two year stint with laughing boy should be just about enough for us to unify on some things.

That will never happen.

It will eight more years of the Clinton's. McCain cannot beat her. He does not have any possible chance.

I don’t think we’re ever going to get away from the two-party system, so I don’t think your idea will work. I like the concept of it, though.

I think the biggest way to hurt the leadership is in the pocketbook. If contributions drop off, they might finally get the picture. I, for one, am going to tell the RNC the next time they call me for a contribution that until they pull their heads out from the huge behind where they currently are embedded, they won’t get another cent from me.

Would Mitch McConnell make a better candidate than Mitt or McCain?

Ted Kennedy left no doubt that he was for Obama. That’s the kind of support Fred needed

Screw the Republican Party.

And that is said after involvement in it since the 1960s.

I hope McCain does anger every Conservative, seriously, we need to become angry and shake ourselves out of this slumber we are in

Rommney needs to get Mad John to display his anger in the debate.

After Super Tuesday, I will be registering as an independent. I think it would be a great idea if tens of millions of us did the same thing.

but mccain does well with independents...

So who’s our third-party candidate now?
Libs can split their votes between the RINO and the Deep Blue Sea.

This is getting really discouraging. There has never been an election where I actually hated the thought of either candidate being elected, but I hate the thought of either Hillary or McCain sitting in the oval office.

I will not vote for McCain, not even against Hillary. Quite possibly she is a miniscule amount more liberal than he is, but there is at least a small chance Republican senators will filibuster the horrible horrible policies if Hillary is the one pushing them.

Actually, yes he does, the Zogby pre primary study found that Hillary had 45% negatives, Barak had 30% negatives and Mitt had 28%.

McCain didn’t even register over 10%.

McCain’s problem is money and Conservatives (some) do not like the man, BUT the alternative is Hillary.

If a Hillary Presidency happens, it won’t be 2 yrs until Conservatives come to our senses..

Here is how MCain can win:

He takes the Senior Citizen Vote, they are the most reliable voting block, then he wins a majority of Hispanics based on his Amnesty proposals, then he must pick off a larger then he has block of Social Conservatives and War on Terror voters.

Seniors are the key to McCain winning, as are Hispanics and War on Terror/CINC voters.

For McCain, a NRA endorsement would be solid gold.

FL is the model for McCain, he also has a shot at California.

He can win, if he get’s the funding.

The GOP is split. You have the moderates who are pissed off at people like you on the right wing, and you have the Conservatives who are PO's at people like you on the right wing who screwed Bush and lamed him up after two months into his second term and then you completely shattered their long term efforts to get the Hispanic vote that was necessary to beat the Dem's.

At this point, there is only one man left who can possibly come close to putting some of this back together, but methinks it won't be enough in any case.

None of this had to happen, but now that it has, we need to learn from it, or go the way of the dinosaur. The Conservative movement cannot steer the party by it's self, it has to form a coalition.

We had one!

We lost it!

Blaming the GOP or Bush for this is like pouring gas on a fire. Look in the mirror.

McCain is not registering negatives because the media is not looking at McCain. They are intentionally giving him a pass. They want him to be the nominee.

After the Convention, the worm can that has been accumulating a lot of stuff, will be opened, and the media that made McCain, then destroyed him early in the primary, then resurrected him a couple weeks ago at the behest of the Clinton machine, will once again lay him out cold like a mackerel.

Do you understand what I just said? Or am I speaking to deaf ears.
