McCain Embroiled In Telecom Lobbying Scandal
Newsvine ^ | 12/20/2007 | Paul William Tenny

There's a report today that the New York Times has a story coming up that details extensive involvement between Senator McCain and a telco lobbyist that may have resulted in the telco retro-active immunity provision of the new FISA amendment.

... According to Matt Drudge, McCain has hired legal counsel to pressure the Times to hold back on the story until after the primaries, or kill it outright.

Additionally, according to Drudges account, "Rutenburg had hoped to break the story before the Christmas holiday, sources reveal, but editor Keller expressed serious reservations about journalism ethics and issuing a damaging story so close to an election."

Duh! Now why would a bastion of journalistic ethics like the NY Times do something so underhanded as that??? Especially after they endorsed Sen. McAmnesty

NYT timed this in order to avoid interfering with the Fla. primary. But this is the kind of sh!t you can expect them to direct at McCain if he wins the nomination.

I've known McCain was a scumbag and a first class crook since the Keating Five scandal. I was been a broken-glass Bush supporter in 2002, 2004 and 2006, but I'm tired of the GOP establishment tossing crap for candidates at me and then expecting me to reflexively support them like Pavlov's dog. Sorry Johnny Boy, this conservative is NOT pulling the handle for you. If you're the best the GOP can do, then it's better they die a quick and merciful death to be replaced by a party that's still genuinely conservative.

“die a quick and merciful death...”

Wait until McCain announces his VP candidate before deciding whether you will vote for him. I agree with Chuck Norris that you’re really voting for the VP to be President.

You wouldn’t want to do that with McCain. His record against conservatives is as bad as the scandals you could dig up! LOL

I'm guessing this is one of many stories the press would suddenly uncover after McCain got the nomination.

BINGO!

Interesting thought.

I shudder to think of McCain as President, accompanied by a medical attendant assigned to handle his drool cup emblazoned with the Great Seal of the United States.

The date on this story is “Thu Dec 20, 2007.”

Let me guess when the NYT is going to run with this story...

I thought they were finally going to publish it. Should have read it more closely.

“...McCain came out against the story with statements this afternoon from the campaign trail telling the Associated Press that “I’ve never done any favors for anybody — lobbyist or special interest group — that’s a clear, 24-year record.”

Really? Why then, are you called one of the Keating 5?

Of course the mainstream media wants McCain to win. He has a pile of dirty laundry in his political career just waiting to be uncovered by them. You can just see the writers at the New York Times, the Washington Post, and the Los Angeles Times licking their lips and just waiting for McCain to get the GOP nod so they can hammer him.

I’ve been saying that for years now. They are chortling with the thought of what they’ll do to him when he wins the nomination. It will be a contest to see how spectacularly they can make him go berserk in public.

They’ll be dredging up stuff on him going back to Annapolis.

I saw your reply, and thought I’d missed something. lol

In any case, if they have this story, is there any doubt when they will run it?

I think not.
