THE US will commit $US2 billion ($2.27 billion) over the next three years for a new international fund to promote clean energy technologies and fight climate change, President George W. Bush will tell Congress today in his annual State of the Union speech.

I wish it was funny. I also wish it was phony.
Unfortunately, it's true and it's not funny. I also wish there was more money for coral reef preservation, sustainable fisheries, and rain forest conservation. Because I imagine a world in 50 years that is much, much different than today.
It's already about 10 days sooner than it was at the turn of the century. Do you want it sooner than that?
We don't need any more winter around here. We have had enough. In the past week the Northern Hemisphere has experienced colder temperatures on any given day than in the past decade.
I might add that we haven't heard a peep out of Al Gore. And, if this is 'global warming', it is pure hell.
So he’s PRO-climate change?
>> How much will it cost to defeat the Tooth Fairy once and for all? <<
Dick Cheney likes fairies!
I doubt it. I don't think they have the capacity to feel embarrassed. And by then they'll be on a new kick, anyway. Some other way to extort money from the beleaguered taxpayer.

The War on Climate Change has begun and the first 2 billion shots have just been fired. We might win the war on Poverty, we might be the victor in the Drug War, but there is NO WAY we are going to win the War on Climate Change.

Nah, it's just bad weather. Sorry to hear you're getting slammed. The jet stream hasn't been very nice to the West Coast this winter; right now it's coming straight from the Aleutians onto the coasts of Washington and Oregon.
And Mcain, please go back to -— wherever it is -—
You are exactly right. But, the cold is caused by the movement of the jet-stream. It flops back and forth causing the changes in the weather.
Good bye Republican party! Looking like a stay home night on election day.
Kind of makes one buy into the “our 2 parties are actually one party giving the illusion of 2” theory.
Bush commits $2B of OUR money to a black hole enterprise . . . so as to appease . . . people that hate him and who will continue to hate him with a passion.
The real ticket would be to submit a request for funds under the auspices of being an illegal alien doing energy research. The Bush Administration would really want to back that.
“through the United Nations”
Well, at least the funds will be handled by a trustworthy . . . sigh
That means: more things that they're going to force us to do, and give up, and change.
Climate change! It's so ridiculous! The Left is doing what they have always accused the Right of doing: drinking the kool-aid.
Interesting. Thanks for the history lesson!
If you want to support rainforest conservation, then you would be wise to oppose the global ethanol scam. Right now, certain Pacific nations are cutting down forest (which could include rainforest) to accomodate the growing of crops to be turned into something that has roughly 2/3 of the energy content of gasoline. This is being done for decadent Europeans.
And in response to another reply of yours, after the windy winter’s day I’ve had today, I would like spring to come even earlier. The blustery winter wind almost rolled my shopping cart into someone else’s car, and it also caused my car door to hit my Mom’s SUV. So, yes, I wish this would end sooner.
How much border fence would that bring?
What a dolt.
