I’ve found that Jesus name is used routinely now as a cuss word, even by people who regularly attend church! People aren’t even really aware they’re saying it. I cringe whenever I hear it because He is...just exactly who He said He is, and He is not worth that kind of blatant disrespect.
This nation is so anti-Christian that only 99% of our elected leaders in Washington are openly Christian, mega-churches wield enormous political and economic influence, and nearly every Presidential candidate openly discusses the importance of his Christian beliefs.
Will this persecution never end?
I think we ought to start saying, “HILLARY CLINTON!” when we hit our thumb with a hammer instead. hehe
I don’t care if it rains or freezes....
Bring it on. Jesus can handle this puny little man and his supporters.
Well....the printed media is closing down. The entertainment industry could do the same if they keep bad mouthing the people. People just have to stop going to the movies for six months and see what happens. The good entertainers will suffer also and maybe that will force them to change things. Take the money away from them and maybe they’ll see the light.
I had to throw away a “Scooby-Doo” video yesterday that my wife bought my daughter. It explained that Wiccans weren’t witches and that they were “good.” You have to be very careful these days about what your kids are exposed to.
The last movie I can remember that depicted Catholic priests in a truthful manner was The Exorcist. Granted, the movie was about something (exorcism) that is exceedingly rare, but Father Merrin, Father Karras and Father Dyer were each portrayed heroically.
I wonder if insisting that one plus one equals two would be considered mathematical totalitarianism by Thomas Friedman?
I say "barnacles" whenever I smash my finger.
What is different about Islam is that while there have been a few attempts at such a reformation, none have flowered or found the support of a Muslim state. We patronize Islam, and mislead ourselves, by repeating the mantra that Islam is a faith with no serious problems accepting the secular West, modernity and pluralism, and the only problem is a few bin Ladens. Although there is a deep moral impulse in Islam for justice, charity and compassion, Islam has not developed a dominant religious philosophy that allows equal recognition of alternative faith communities. Bin Laden reflects the most extreme version of that exclusivity, and he hit us in the face with it on 9/11.

I agree, and I’d add that I don’t like to see the holy name of Lord Jesus amidst the grime of the road on a bumper sticker, even by the well-meaning. I also don’t like some “Christian rock” that substitutes the sacred name of Christ for that of a romantic paramour in a poorly adapted “love song”.
ping for later
