Harry Smith: Did Bill Clinton Defraud African-Americans on Race?
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 01/28/2008 5:53:57 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

Harry Smith won't be up on the platform with Ted Kennedy today endorsing Barack Obama. But he might be there in spirit, after having absolutely unloaded on Bill Clinton's on this morning's Early Show. The CBS anchor made the stunning suggestion that when it comes to matters racial, Bill Clinton may have perpetrated a fraud on African-Americans.

Smith's guest was "diversity expert" Joe Watson and you might have expected Watson [who FWIW impressed me favorably] to carry the anti-Bill ball. But ultimately it was Smith who offered the single most damning suggestion. The CBS host began by playing the clip of Bill's by-now infamous words from the weekend, writing off the Obama victory in South Carolina by pointing out that Jesse Jackson had won there twice in the 80s.

Oh, sure! The Clintons are frauds! Now the MSM gets it!

But, by the way, Obama is a deeply experienced fellow, not an empty suit in any way, with no ties to Muslims, and with solid ideas on how to make this country great. I heard it on the news.

Everyone had to see this coming with respect to Obama. It’s simply impossible to campaign against a credible black candidate for anything without the charges of racism. Still it’s so delicious to see Bill Clinton hoist on his own politically correct petard. If Obama is the Democratic nominee his Republican opponent is going to have to watch how he sneezes so as not to be accused of racism.

The Tedsters upcoming Obama endorsement is the signal to the MSM to fire at Will & Hillary.

Now the MSM gets it!

They always "got" it, but Bill was their man and they weren't going to let anything like the facts get in their way. Now that Obama appears to be their "fair-haired boy," Bill and Hill might fall victim to the "Emperor's New Clothes" syndrome. Had the MSM documented even 10% of the Clintons' shenanigans, they'd be out of public life and maybe wearing orange jump suits.

I realize that. And it's important to realize that the MSM fully understands that Obama is completely unprepared to be president. He would be a disaster for this country. The media knows and does not care.

I can’t stand either candidate, but I do find it hilarious that the Clintons are getting a taste of their own medicine. Yummy, eh, Bill? (snicker)

Exactly whom would that be?

If Obama is the Democratic nominee his Republican opponent is going to have to watch how he sneezes so as not to be accused of racism.

He will be accused of racism no matter what he does, just asking the public to vote for him rather than Obama, will be considered racist. The race-baiters will not be able to restrain themselves. However, overall the tactic will likely backfire. It will be one of those elections where people say they want Obama (so as to appear non-racist) and then they will not vote for him.

Among Democrats? Nobody. I can however think of several black Republicans who would be head-and-shoulders more qualified than Obama.

It would be ironic if the black attachment to the Democratic party ended over something as trivial as atmospherics. I always thought that freebies (welfare, food stamps, government housing, affirmative action) trumped atmospherics.

Sorry Dems, but you’re in a lose-lose situation. If Hillary is the nominee, you’ll see an outpouring of voters against her the likes of which you might never see again, making the anti-Bush hatred look downright mild. If Obama is the nominee, the polls might say one thing, but the “Bradley Factor” will ensure the GOP will hold the White House for another four years.

Harry Smith was warned! When BoyClinton ran for President the first time a book was written about Billary’s deviant escapades. Harry Smith interviewed him as to do a hit piece for those deviant duo. The book was well documented but that didn’t matter. Karry Smith was one of the Clinton’s enablers from the MSM!

I wish I could find it as entertaining as you do, but this is how the MSM will completely shut down the GOP message machine in the general if Obama is the nominee.

I cant find this entertaining at all because if Clinton can so effortlessly be cast as a racist, with his 30 + years of accumulated credibility (in PR terms) on race issues buffering the damage, imagine what a GOP that has none of this (in PR terms) will look like when cast in the same light, when the entire country is paying attention rather than just the casual political junkies.

Stop cheering on the Clinton test-run of this, I guess is what I’m saying. Because the tets-run is what this is.
