Umm, unless the restaurant had a sign that said, “Not Responsible for Greek Orthodox Bishop’s Bejeweled Crowns Left in Cars,” I’d say they’re in biiiig trouble.
A much more classy headpiece than a crown of thorns, I’m sure.
He left in in the CAR?!!!!!
I don't think so... it got to be worth much more than that... Gold is over $900 an ounce...
There isn’t that much gold involved really. They look prettier than they’re worth:

Well, I’m afraid the thieves will probably sell it to someone who will strip out any jewels and melt it down. There’s not much of a market for recognizable crowns.
I hope he reads the New Testament.
I have often been a bit irked at all the fancy vestments, crowns, miters, copes and what have you that are used in many of the traditional Christian churches.
I doubt if Christ ever saw a piece of silk in his entire life — or drank from a golden cup.
But, I guess it’s up to the faithful of those churches to decide.
Among the items stolen from Bishop Metropolitan Isaiah’s car was a jeweled crown of gold and silver, which Isaiah estimated to be worth between $6,000 and $10,000.
The Bible says do not store up Your treasures on Earth, so this is not even news....I dont care what He got stolen.
I'm not Orthodox, but I share their belief that Christ is risen from the dead, and very much alive. Through Him all things were made, including gold and silk. My limited understanding is that these costly things are offered back to God by being used in connection with the Church's life of public prayer, the liturgy.
I won’t be offended if my account of why vestments and the chalice are made of good materials needs to be corrected. I am figuring Eastern Rite Catholics and Orthodox may view this similarly. Thanks in advance.

"And crucifying him, they divided his garments, casting lots upon them, what every man should take."
I have always thought that his clothes were probably much nicer than are traditionally supposed, since generally people don't compete or fight over dirty rags. Just something to think about.
Not a good place to keep your crown.
I’m with you. I got want no truck with religious leaders that wear gold crowns.
Most of the value is in the workmanship, C. I doubt the “jewels” are very good ones and there isn’t much gold or silver in those crowns, even less in the staffs but they are expensive.
As the article notes, +Isaiah was a Marine. He is one tough guy and a good hierarch. His chancellor, Fr. Luke Uhl, is a former Navy officer, a good chancellor and another one with guts. They both stood for Orthodoxy when the chips were down a few years back.

Agreed. Freepmail me for my PayPal account where you can divest yourself of your earthly treasures.
Hmmm...I’ll be surffing e-bay....
Well, mah telebision preacher don’t wear no bejeweled crown, y’all. (Never don’t mind his Rolls!)
