Just a quick response to one small part of this: NOW McCain says that the reason he opposed the Bush tax cuts is because they weren’t accompanied by spending cuts, but AT THE TIME, he said he opposed them because it was unfair to give tax cuts to rich people. (Who pay the lion’s share of the income taxes.)

No sale. If not Romney on economic issues, then who, among the GOP candidates? McCain? Don’t make me laugh. Huck? Worse than McCain.

His four-year record as Governor of Massachusetts shows a substantial increase in fees and taxes, low job growth, and a large exodus of residents from the state.

Well, he's seen the light and changed his beliefs. Hallelujah!

Frankly, this seems less like a “wrote it yourself” vanity than like a “sent from the McCain campaign” canned piece. Did you write this yourself?

You need to read Romney’s book “Turnaround”. I do not understand why some FReepers just can’t get enough of trashing Romney. Whatever.

I suppose you prefer John McCain who gets along so well with democrats.

Romney has a good record - in business, the Olympics, Massachusetts, and now he makes us proud running for President. Get over youself already.

All the proof you need is the fact that the media hates his guts.

I've bashed Romney plenty around here, and he certainly isn't my first choice, but this line doesn't take into account the political realities of Massachusetts. I happen to live here, and I also know who runs the show. It ain't Republicans.

Not disputing the specifics, just pointing out that the line doesn't tell the whole story.

And if this kind of thing were in an ad too close to the election it would be illegal under McCain-Feingold.

Let’s face it

Everyone still standing is a RINO

Every candidate has several liberal views/past voting record etc

None of them in every area...but each has at least half of the issues...

Where two are bad the other three are so-so bbut the so=sos have something else stinky...

We dont have a conservative left in the race...

What can be done to get a conservative nominee next time...

I dont know..

I just know we have been gypped and left with 5 RINOs that i wouldnt hire and trust to change the oil in my car let alone act as my POTUS...

Senator McCain instead told the truth that many of these jobs are not coming back, and offered a retraining program for displaced workers.

WRONG. Get them back.

Oh, please!

The above statement about Massachusetts has been true for the entire 60 years of my life on this earth!!!

In a state run by the Democrat machine like a mafia whorehouse, any Republican governor is a lameduck from his first day in office. The worst thing I can say about governor Romney is that he was delusional thinking that he could make any kind of impact in that socialist hellhole.

Look, Romney was not my first choice. But I live in NH, and I was born and raised in Massachusetts.

I left Massachusetts LONG BEFORE Romney became governor, as did hundreds of thousands before me.

> As Michael Widmer, president of the independent
> Massachusetts Taxpayers Foundation, told Reuters

“Michael Widmer holds a PhD in Political Science from Harvard. He was the Press Secretary for former Governor Michael Dukakis.”
http://www.smallgovernmentact.org/multimedia.html

Nuff said?

> told Reuters

Reuters? As in Reuter Rooters?
BWAAAAAHAHAHAA!!!

Reuters HATES Romney, and ANY Republican, for that matter, except of course for McCain. However, since McCain votes more often with the Democrats, and even considered caucusing with the Democrats, and even considered running as VP for Kerry (of Massachusetts, btw), McCain doesn’t really qualify as a “Republican” by Reuters’ reckoning.

Not by my reckoning, either.

> “There’s never been under his watch an economic
> turnaround to speak of,”

Hysterical!!! This was true LONG before Romney became governor. NO governor has been able to get the pimps of the mafia whorehouse to get the crack whores off the public teat.

> further saying, “We added a few jobs over the last three
> years of his tenure but very few.

WOW!!! That’s WAY BETTER than commie Mike Dukaka EVER did!! And the new commie guvnah, Devil Patrick, is doing even worse than old Dukaka. But, of course, that’s BUSH’S FAULT, right??

OY!!!

I didn’t vote for him in the NH primary, but now I am PRAYING that Romney gets the nomination.

He will sweep the floor with the wicked witch and box the ears of the lightweight obama.

Are you all donating or just tacking on expenses trying to convince people that John McCain is a conservative. His economic advisor Holtz-Eakin sucks, his legal team is bad, his legislation is bad, you have got to be kidding!

—snip—Senator McCain has clearly stated that he wanted spending cuts to accompany tax cuts, and if you look at his record and the record of congress over the last eight years its clear that there has been a massive government spending problem that he has battled against.—snip—

No. It is absolutely false information. Ramesh Ponurru, a McCain supporter, has pointed this out. In fact, Holtz-Eakin would gasp at such nonsense—contractionary fiscals—in a recession during a war? Seriously, you all are full of crap.

Johnny was angry from 2000. He is clueless on fiscals. He took up the flag of class warfare with his Dem friends. And he voted against tax cuts—twice. And economists like Raj Chetty have documented the empirics of dividends.

In fact, inflows dipped to 16.5% of GDP in 2003. Deficits happened because of the recession! No serious person proposes prolonging recession through contractionary fiscals. Even Goolsbee and Obama know this.
