Fire crews on top of the 3,000-room hotel at 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. S. are trying to contain the blaze, which broke out shortly after 11 a.m.
Four welders who were working on the roof were trapped there, but they were recently rescued.
The blaze began at the top of the hotel and has spread down into four different parts, including the roof, a top corner of the building and a couple of floors down from the roof. There are 32 floors and about 3,000 people staying at the hotel, which is owned by MGM Mirage.
Welcome back.
Never saw that, but it sounds good! I mean really, they've got that ticker-tape banner on the bottom, a "Casino Fire" oval turning at the right, a Fox News logo box on the left, with the time below it, and oh, it looks like a "Breaking News" banner on top what must be a local TV station "Breaking News" banner -- with some kind of info box below that. Then there's the "Live" logo top left, etc. For crying out loud . . .
Well the reports have said yes, then no, then yes, and now it's no again.
Sorry, I don't know of any. I'm watching TV.
Shep just described the buildinig as “boomerang” shaped.
Hehe.
The report was wrong (surprise!) They were evacuating Monte Carlo guests to the other hotels.

It's a vacation they'll never forget.
Good reporting on the reporting...
Those were some fairly colorful descriptions.
LOL, another good report. That’s a hoot.
Anyone spoted Britney Spears?
Okay, that makes sense. Thank you.
I remember the MGM Grand tragedy
OMG- Shep is (I’m not making this up) now going to interview Drew Peterson LIVE.
Can’t make this #### up
Hubba hubba! Is she gorgeous or what?
I heard the LV chopper pilot say “The Monte Carlo is the only building on fire, so far” when CNN was carrying that feed. I turned to my coworker and said “what does that mean?”
My coworker “saw someone jump” and almost started crying. I was like...why the hell would someone below the fire jump? Did the housekeeper run out the window yelling “Fuego Fuego”.... I told her it was debris or something.
That’s just kind of sad on the investors’ part since Monte Carlo is a rather small casino as compared to the MGM MIRAGE as a whole. Too funny.
They probably do have sprinkler systems, but once they’ve used the water that’s available (i.e., under pressure) at those upper floors, it has to be pumped all the way up there in amounts that will make a difference.
