Fire crews on top of the 3,000-room hotel at 3770 Las Vegas Blvd. S. are trying to contain the blaze, which broke out shortly after 11 a.m.
Four welders who were working on the roof were trapped there, but they were recently rescued.
The blaze began at the top of the hotel and has spread down into four different parts, including the roof, a top corner of the building and a couple of floors down from the roof. There are 32 floors and about 3,000 people staying at the hotel, which is owned by MGM Mirage.
Oh, those sinful gamblers!
No wind in Las Vegas.winds calm, traffic a mess, I-15 closed down, Las Vegas Blvd, closed both ways. Jewish Lightening suspected
So there is proof someone watches MSNBC.
Rumint - started accidentally by a worker using a blow torch.
Doesn’t explain the wide spread.
I suspect the client areas are all “top notch” up to date, given the MGM fire and LVFD vigilance. However the non-public areas, I suspect, get the short shrift of attention.
Could it be a partly a problem with a service elevator?
Leave it to you BK, to come up with the really serious fire info. LOL That’s interesting.
These reporters are going to be totally bummed out when the last little flame is out.
Shep Smith is spitting on himself...I love how they attempt to anaylize every little detail...
Shep just said the hotel is closed now. No kidding?
Listening to some local homosexual reporter is describing every burning ember...What a kick!
FYI.......Bellagio NOT evacuated. Welders on roof before onset of fire leaves speculation for CAUSE open.
Of course I-15 [S] is a bumper to bumper and Las Vegas Blvd S has been closed.
Hope everyone’s safe. Great place and I love their sportsbook.
If I owned a cable news network, the first thing I'd do is revert to pre-9/11 days and get the heck rid of all the damn cr*p on the screen.
I’m just looking at how they’re getting the angle from the rooms below. Looks like some kind of portable ladder pipe or something. Pretty cool!
Same here. My last trip out for CES, I stayed at the Monte and had a ball.
These people who stay on these top floors are CRAZY. Frankly, you couldn’t PAY me to go to Las Vegas anyway, but I don’t like high rise ANYTHING. The only time I like to be up that high is when I’m backpacking on a mountaintop.
When they dig up our civilization, they will now find proof. Heh heh heh...
Actually, I reviewed several networks to find the best shots. MSNBC seemed to have some of the best shots.
Other than that, I don’t I’ve had that network on in months.
Reminds me of the SNL skit where they cover up the whole screen and the anchor is trying to peek through. LOL
Any Fox stream working live?
I wonder if they did evacuate other close by hotels. It wouldn’t seen necessary to me, but what do I know? They did report nearby evacuations. NY NY, Belagio and another one or two...

Wow. Brave men.
Where the hell’s Gil Grissom?!?
