Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

It could also help out...if you unfortunately find yourself physically in envirowhacko territory...let’s say your car breaks down, for instance....

I hope that one day I will come face to face with an envirowhacko. Maybe I shouldn’t say that out loud, it may be considered premeditated.

“I think this one hurt all the FR Hunter fans more than Thompson’s withdrawal hurt us Fredheads. Ouch.”

I can only respond by making 2 points. One, Thompson has not endorsed anyone yet. He may not endorse anyone at all, but as of now, he has not.

Second, who was Hunter supposed to endorse? Thompson dropped out too.

I read that Thompson won't support anyone at this time, and I sure hope that holds true. It's hard to believe Hunter did this, it makes no sense at all.

If Thompson changes and throws his weight behind McCain I may just go into the fetal position and suck my thumb for a month. Get out the men in the white coats!

I'm gonna get my can of cashews and head off to bed. 'Life after people' on the History channel is about to come on.

See ya tomorrow after classes. Good night, nic.

You*re right, nic. Not too calm & cool tonight and have been eating Rolaids like candy. Easy to get distracted and our main objectives are what you just named; now we are in a quaundary ; l2 years of Bush-Clinton-Bush and here we are. I live in a very small town in farming country and seems every day I see a new Ron Paul sign go up.

It won’t surprise me if FT doesn’t announce they have made up and endorses Huckabee too.

Indeed. Rolaids can be good for you, I think there's calcium in it (*grins*). I see no other option at this point than Ron Paul. After all....what other choices are there? It seems to me that the others all move us left.

And should he do that....once again we would be questioning why, not questioning our own sanity for wondering WTH is going on.

For ten months now, Hunter supporters have dissing Fred as “not a real conservative” and telling us that Duncan Hunter was the only *genuine* conservative in the race.

They ASSURED us that it was so!

Furthermore, those who didn’t just come right out and say so, strongly imnplied that Hunter was also MORALLY SUPERIOR to Fred Thompson.

Now the congressman from San Diego does a flip-flop off the high board!

LOL!

Oh, the irony!

No, I’m completely clear and satisfied with my decision. No confusion. I’m voting for Hunter, regardless.

He should have endorsed none of the above. He would be pilloried, rightfully so, for any of them.
