Duncan Hunter Endorses Mike Huckabee
National Review Online ^ | 1-23-08 | Byron York

Posted on 01/23/2008 12:29:02 PM PST by TitansAFC

This was a surprise. From the Hunter statement:

"I got to know Governor Huckabee well on the campaign trail," said Hunter. "Of the remaining candidates I feel that he is strongly committed to strengthening national defense, constructing the border fence and meeting the challenge of China's emergence as a military superpower that is taking large portions of America‚s industrial base."

"Along with these issues of national security, border enforcement and protecting the U.S. industrial base, I see another quality of Mike Huckabee's candidacy that compels my endorsement. Mike Huckabee is a man of outstanding character and integrity. I saw that character over the last year of campaigning and was greatly impressed. The other Republican candidates have many strengths and I wish them all well. My personal choice is Mike Huckabee," Hunter concluded.

I always got along just fine with your run of the mill kooks. LOLOL

In all seriousness, I don't know. It's getting to the point where I'm about to say to hell with all of them and just cocoon. Replenish our store room, buy more ammo and just hunker down till tshtf.

Voting was so much easier and stress free before I started getting into political discussions. ;)

It's because of one company Romney used to run. Hunter ruled Romney out over one company. Pretty short sighted. Hunter stood by Huckabee during the debates and he liked him or something like that. Hunter believes Huckabee will secure the border (yeah, right). Hunter didn't mention pro-life or I was tuning him out. (Rusty Humphries radio just now).

We need to secure the border before we get paranoid about one company named Bain.

I am not sure if I agree with Rep. Hunters endorsement but it was clearly based on principle and not on politics.

Are you claiming then that all the Huckabee haters in here have no principles?

I'll go and get the popcorn....

“Probably because there are no true conservatives left running. So everyone has to pick the parts of the conservative message that are most dear to them.”

EXACTLY.

I’m going to vote for the candidate who I think will do the least amount of damage on SUPER Tuesday.

I’m not happy about that, but it’s the best I can do.

But first I will pray that I, and all Americans, make the best choice.

Well, that sounds better; after all, Bush & Rice have hardly been friends of Israel lately. And their own PM is their worst enemy, it seems. Another result of meddling in other countries all over the world, and that is what attracts me to Paul now. I remember reading about him years ago.

I'm still learning about him and my option is open.

Writing Hunter in is also an option. I just wish he hadn't cast his lot with Huck. That stings.

Anything short of DEPORTATION of illegal invaders is AMNESTY! He’s nothing more than a pandering fool....

“My own view is, those people who come illegally, should be able to sign up for permanent residency.” Dec. 16, ‘07

“I don’t believe in rounding up 11 million people and forcing them at gunpoint from our country,” Romney said in the March 30, 2006 Lowell Sun. “[T]hose that are here paying taxes and not taking government benefits should begin a process towards application for citizenship, as they would from their home country.”

NO THEY SHOULDN’T! THEY SHOULD BE SENT HOME! THEY DID NOT RESPECT THE LAW TO GET HERE THE LEGAL WAY!

What did FLIP Romney actually do while in MA? His “tough stance” was enacted weeks before leaving office and was never implemented by his successor.

Then he can come out with them. But I doubt he has some secret knowledge of the inner workings of the management at Bain Capital.

Hunter has access to highly classified material. Maybe he said as much as he could. Maybe the only thing he could talk about was what is known publicly.

If you trusted Duncan Hunter before, you should consider what he said.

His endorsement pleases HER and their church.

Pleases their church?

When one Baptist sides with another, it is grounds for immediate suspicion among Baptists.

(I can say that, being a Baptist PK.)

If Hunter did that then he just relegated himself to almost complete obscurity when it comes to national politics.

And this is different from his previous lofty position in what way?

Duncan Hunter started out as a nobody, remained a nobody, and has finally embraced his inner nobodiness by sucking up to the Huckster.

Take a look at this poll. I don’t know how accurate it is, but it breaks down support by age, race, etc. The only 2 candidates the hispanics are not going for is Huckabee and Paul. Huckabee is strong in the black support. Paul is strong in democrat support.

Interesting.

Doster knows more than anybody about Florida politics. I met him at a strategy mtg and at a church service. Googling Doster is a good way to follow this race.

rudy, romney, mcpain will never get my vote. No discussion necessary where they are concerned. They don't exist in my book.

Politics sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

Wrong again, DC. From 10/4/06:

O'REILLY: You're not a big McCain fan, are you?
COULTER: No. Actually, I don't really like any of our front-runners.
O'REILLY: Really?
COULTER: I think it's going to be somebody else.
O'REILLY: I think it's going to be Mitt Romney.
COULTER: Actually, of the ones they talk about...
O'REILLY: I think Mitt Romney is the...
COULTER: ... he's my favorite. It's somebody out of the blue.

Well, I guess he has “evolved” his thinking in this area since his March 06 comments. Nice to see he is pandering more in our direction than the other way.

Is there anybody left standing in the Presidential race who is for going out in mass force to deport them all?

Hey AuntB, we had this exchange a few days ago. Hey, AuntB, where are you? You said I was lying, calling AuntB. He didn’t even wait 2 weeks!:

“”Duncan Hunter said on Fox TV today that he is considering throwing his endorsement to either the Huckster or McQueeg. Got that? Huckabee or McCain is where Duncan’s endorsement is going. He says he will decide which in about 2 weeks (in other words, right before or after the Feb. 5th primaries).”

Your reply:

That is not even remotely close to what Hunter said. He endorsed no one or hinted at no one. The guy is gone and you’re still lying about him. Absolutely amazing.
