Conservative radio talk show host Rush Limbaugh stunned his listeners by announcing that he might not support the Republican presidential nominee in this years election.
Limbaugh said on Mondays show: "I can see possibly not supporting the Republican nominee this election, and I never thought that I would say that in my life."
The reason: You dont have a genuine down-the-list conservative among the GOP candidates.
Wherever you go here in this roster of candidates, you're going to be able to point out not conservative, what he did there is not conservative Rush said.
The Republican front-runners want the nomination because it's their turn, he also stated. We tried that in '96 with Bob Dole and now they're running the same scenario
"I'm telling ya, it's gonna come down to which guy do we dislike the least. And that's not necessarily good."
After Rushs pronouncements, Los Angeles Times blogger Andrew Malcolm wrote: Across the country, people were dropping their coffee cups, choking on sandwiches, fainting and driving off the road. The king of conservative talk radio not supporting the Republican nominee?
But Limbaughs remarks are not quite so surprising in light of statements he made about GOP candidates Mike Huckabee and John McCain last week:
I'm here to tell you, if either of these two guys get the nomination, it's going to destroy the Republican Party. It's going to change it forever, be the end of it. A lot of people aren't going to vote. You watch.
Just out of curiosity, does your district use Diebold voting machines?
>>yeah, I have no candidates left to support, but I will still vote, because I want to be able to honestly say I didnt vote for Hillary (or Osama).<<
There is a lot of room to still vote but not campaign and not donate.
When Rush leads, the solution will follow.
What? You probably think I'm kidding...
Yeah . . . I'd like to know that myself!
Short Term Pain for long term gain.....call it the Nuclear Option.
And an option I had already chosen, unless Mitt names a Stone Cold Solid conservative running mate.
It’s like in Baseball - sometimes the team you got is NOT going to win, so you blow up the roster, lose 100 games for a year or two but in the process you build a team with talent.
Same here, the party needs an enema. Once and for all we need to seperate the Rockefellers from the Reagans and be done with it. If that means Hillary gets four years in the sandbox....regrettable, but necessary.
I suspect Thompson is still alive in all of this and may swoop in during the convention.
I like Dick Cheney, but he would get absolutely murdered in the general election by any fool the left put up. Outside of the base, Cheney is not popular at all.
Gee... but it’s not any different IF we vote.
For if we vote for a Republican candidate, the liberals still win.
I agree now, but before Duncan and Fred dropped out, we DID have a couple very good conservative canditates. Why didn’t Rush come out in support of them long ago?
Well, as you say, the current crop of Republican candidates represents the Republican voter.
As those candidates, by and large, don’t represent my conservative values, I must not be a Republican.
So, why again, should I vote Republican?
Look folks, the RINOS are in complete control and have been since 1988. That makes it NOT SINCE 1984 that we have been able to vote for a true Conservative for President at the top of the GOP.
I would say 24 years is just a little too frikkin long to be told to be a "team player" and "get with the program" and "whaddya wanna do, put a ***DEMOCRAT*** in the White House!", and "shut up, your turn is coming."
Even now Immigration is being put in the back folder after three months of it being the top issue, now that Tancredo, Hunter and Thompson have been knocked out, as planned.
Sorry, more than likely NOT drinking the koolaide this year, folks.
As Mr. Rumsfeld once said, you fight the war with the army you have, not the army you wish you had.
Wow, I’ve never personally witnessed someone so brainwashed.
Though, it’d be fun to run as a republican in your district, knowing that I could call for the extermination of all red-headed Irish children... and you’d still vote for me.
:-)
Welcome to our world, Rush.
Hear, Hear!
Truer words have not been spoken - regarding elections.
Amen Rush....Many of us agree with you!!!!!!!!
