Louisiana was thought to be a battle between Fred Thompson and Mitt Romney.
Romney has the support of two congressmen and announced teams in every district. It is winner take all by congressional district and majority receives at-large delegates.
It's the only Southern caucus, so conservative conservatives will probablt(sic) turn out.
This is Romney's to lose...
Another gold medal... albeit in the state equivalent of Olympic curling, but still...

I didn’t mean to offend with the link. I merely thought it showed how some Catholics view the Mormon Church.
I will be surprised if "DailyPaul" is not a day late and a dollar short.
More Louisiana news:
Today’s caucuses elected delegates to the Feb. 16 state convention. The various Presidential candidates put together slates of delegates for each caucus, but they are still unpledged delegates. These delegates attend the state convention and congressional caucuses at the state convention. The state convention will choose delegates to the national convention. (There is a Feb. 9 primary straw poll, but it is not-binding unless a candidate gets 50%, an unlikely event.)
Unless one of the campaigns knows ahead of time that they elected a majority of delegates statewide and are ready to announce it, there will be no announcement of national delegate allocation until the Feb. 16 state convention.
Yep. Same hairdo in her senior class photo, I bet.
It kinda remindes me of the old grey haired janitors in my highschool that were still dressed like it was 1954...V-necked white Tshirts with a cigarette pack rolled up in the sleeve, and fancy dress pants with suspenders and two tone black and white dress shoes..spitshined, hair slicked back. Actually, that getup might be considered cutting edge nowdays.
~”And despite what everyone thinks, I think hed obliterate Clinton in a debate.”~
I agree. He’ll watch her with rapt attention, smiling politely, waiting his turn, then proceed to cordially tear her to pieces with optimism and good sense.
She’ll get frustrated and shrill and lost a half of a percentage point in the polls each time.
One thing about it is, if Hillary’s opponent even gives a hint of rudeness or poor civility, Clinton will play the victimized woman card. But such behavior is utterly outside the realm of Romney’s instincts. He may be the only man we have who can go up against her and still have women liking him at the end.
No offense taken. Don’t worry, you’d be hard-pressed to offend me; I’ve heard it all by now!
I’m always happy, though, to address questions about Mormonism.
I’ve been engaged in Mormon apologetics for some time. I’ve only ever come across one Catholic anti-Mormon. Something different in the water, I suppose.
What does that mean. Sorry, I am not familiar with the term.
we were there tonight....yes, the Paul crowd was out in full force...my son (16) was a volunteer and one Paul supporter stopped him as we were leaving and asked him what was in his bag...it was a laptop bag. He then asked if he could look inside it, since he saw my son near the ballot area. I almost stepped in, but since he had nothing to hide and I didnt want to end up on YouTube (lol)I let him open it and show him that there were no ballots in there! The guy was polite but I was surprised at his brazeness...I wanted to ask him if he had a warrant!!!!
Romney’s going to win over a lot of Dims as well, I think, in the women category. Women like to see a family oriented man. And I agree...Hilary, in the end, will turn vicious, because she isn’t going to get what she wants. She’ll try to dig up the past on Mitt (as a lot of Freepers have done here) for reasons why he shouldn’t win votes, and she’s going to do and say whatever she can to take power.
The debate will be real key in the general, and that is why I am more than optimistic about the election. If Barak were to beat Hilary, he would suffer a worse fate. Not only would his politics be dismantled, but Mitt would more than likely play on his youth and inexperience.
Hey, we may have spoken. Thanks for coming!
Martin Luther is supposed to have said: “It is better to be ruled by a wise Turk than an incompetent Christian”.
The point is that a candidate’s religion shouldn’t matter EXCEPT as to how it shapes his conduct and values. (For contrast, see the entry under John Fraud Kerry). Romney’s already answered more questions about it than any candidate should have to, and I’m surprised that anybody on the Republican side would be threatened by this issue. Huckabee poses a MUCH greater threat to our Constitutional Republic than does a “Morman”.
Yeah, the joke is that northern Louisiana is actually southern Arkansas, or vice versa. it’s hard to figure out appeal, though. It was strange to me that people were flipping between Thompson and Huckabee. Those two were more different than Felix and Oscar.
OMG! ARE YOU SURE YOU WEREN'T A NAZI/TROOFER? :-)
I was told there were nearly 3000 people at the Baton Rouge caucus....thats alot of ballot counting by hand....just be glad there are no CHADS!!!!
Tonight? What the heck is wrong withour media that I am hearing about this caucus now??????
Thanks for your report above.
Back in 2000 he had a lot of supporters here too.
were you at the table outside with the cookies??? I missed ‘em, they were gone when I passed by!
It was a nice turnout and our area was represented well.
The drive by conception of a conservative is a snarling liberal. That’s why they like McCain, Dole, heck, even Nixon was kind of a snarling liberal. I think it’s a liberal behavioral trope. If they have to accept a Republican, get a liberal one and then pretend to hate him. Take Bush. He’s no arch conservative, but they hate him like he’s Brother John Birch himself.
