Back in March of 07 at the CPAC convention in DC several former Fred Thompson Congressional staffers told me Fred Thompson was thinking about a run. Some of his Tennessee cronies had been talking him up too.
I reported first that he was eyeing a White House bid. At the time several insiders told me OFF THE RECORD that it was largely a trial ballon to guage his popularity and float his name as a possible vice presidential nominee. I was sworn to silence.

Interesting and may explain why Fred's campaign was so uncoordinated.

Carl is an idiot. Has been before Fred, will be after.
Carl is about Carl and how he can look as if he is in the know. It surprises me that someone that really knows so little has so much to say.

It’ll be interesting to see how much of it proves to be true.

The story may not be over, as I hope one of the RINOs has enough good sense to try to get him for VP.
We need Fred to keep a short leash on the RINOs! LOL
To: Cicero
I only know him as a “reporter” on Fox, don’t know anything else about him. I just figured he was a guy in front of the camera and never thought much else about him.

“How reliable is Carl Cameron?”
If I’m not mistaken, he was the first to report Fred was dropping out of the debate, and then of the race. I have no opinion of him, nor no knowledge of his reliability other than these recent events.

I don’t know... I think I could go for Fred as VP as long as he teamed up with the right candidate. If he goes with McCain... The the answer is NO! I will be a big slap in the face....
I might be able to pull for a Romney/Thompson ticket...
I think that the country is better served with Fred in the picture than not...

Romney had very positive things to say about him and basically said he or any other GOP candidate would be luck to have Fred. He definitely extended a hand.
