LOL, yea right. Mr. The US should not have a national immigration policy and welcome in anyone who wants to work... and putting the national guard on the military on the border is unconstitutional.. he is about as good on border security as he is on hearing questions in debates.
AuntB, do you have that link to the video that was posted a couple of weeks ago with Paul talking about immigration and rewarding those who 'work hard' outside the system? I'm sure everyone will want to see that as the Paul vultures try to pick up Thompson supporters.

You are utterly correct. I am a Republican - a conservative one who doesn't like the direction of the Party in the last several years. But I am a Republican. I can look at every single one of the candidates on the other side and see that they will be orders of magnitude worse than even the worst of those Republicans still in the race.
So who will I support now?
I can't stand McCain - what he did to the 1st Amendment is unconscionable, he opposed tax cuts, cooperated with Kennedy, etc. on numerous issues. Oh, and the guy isn't at all level-headed. Nope, not him.
Huckabee. Gomer Pyle, the Republican Jimmy Carter, who is just like the original...i.e. not so morally pure as he makes himself out to be. Oh, and he knows diddly about foreign affairs at a time when this country is at war. Uh, no. Repeat NO! As in NFW.
Rudy. Gun-banning, illegal immigrant-protecting, cross-dressing, etc., etc. Rudy? No thanks. He might've been a good mayor of NYC, and he'd probably make a good Senator or Governor for NY, but not President of all the people. Adios.
Which leaves the least distasteful, Romney. He'll be great on the economy, and I don't think that he'll be a pushover on foreign affairs. I worry about him on social issues, principally guns, but that may be largely out of his hands anyway. I can stomach him, especially in comparison to Hillary or Obama.
This is, indeed, a very sad day for Reagan Republicans. The latest torch-bearer has stumbled and fallen, so we are yet again in a position of trying to persuade a RINO to do the right thing, or to resist doing the wrong thing. Such is politics where, as in life, you can't get everything you want. I've been there and done that - and it is absolutely better to get a half a loaf than none at all. Let's think about the longest-term issue in this campaign, Supreme Court Justices. Who's got a better shot at nominating a judge who actually respects the Constitution, who'll interpret it instead of legislating from the bench - Hillary or Romney? That's easy.
I support the Republican nominee because I don't want to see this country go completely down the toilet.

Give it up buddy, he’s out. I was dreading this day as all these FredHeads who were living in denial would have to face the truth. Thompson wasn’t what all his supporters thought he was. He ran a lackluster campaign which is a shame as he was one of the more conservative candidates. Time to move on.
I’m voting for him anyway in the CA primary. It’ll probably be my last vote in a GOP primary, so I might as well make it a good one!

Sorry, but a President Clinton won't be the fault of the conservatives who endorse Hunter or Thompson- it will be the fault of those who settled for a candidate based on image, style and political expediency. So before you start throwing blame around, take a good look at yourself.
Thompson calls Romney, says “I’ll support you”. Romney says, “You’re my man, Fred, you’ve got the VP slot if you want it”. Fred accepts. Tomorrow, Mitt and Fred hold a press conference and make the announcement. Mitt then takes the nomination in a sweep of the remaining states, and Mitt and Fred win the election in November.
Yeah, I like it.

Incompetent Democrats have bred Milquetoast Republicans, bland and careful people who easily get smacked with a big stick because of it.
If you want to change that, it STARTS AT THE BOTTOM, at your local candidate selection meetings for the Primaries.
You can whine on a website all you want, but it will exactly ZERO to advance the changes you want.
We managed to pull that off in Indianapolis this year, against a huge and well-funded Democrat Machine. Now, we will try to take that to the next level, the statehouse seats and the Congressional seat, which is suddenly in play, even without Julia Carson’s death...
Will we LEARN FROM THIS?

Border security is but one part of national security. The rest of it still earns him a failing grade.
Fred being a current actor did not help but rather hurt has chances in that people expect to see Arthur Branch or one of his other characters. Moreover, it was difficult for Fred to step out of his role and be himself or perhaps his problem was that he did step out of his role.
The bottom line is that he had an impossible task ahead of him.
