Carl Cameron says it'll become offical sometime later this week.
Oh well, we're doomed. Let's hope it'll be minimal damage until 2012.
I agree. It's obvious to me that the GOP isn't a place for conservatives any longer. And if this is the best lineup they can field then the GOP has run out of gas.
Good point, I agree.
Right now, Paul is the best candidate on border security. The last time I looked, border security equals national security.
No F-ing way, I’m likely to vote third party now. I don’t believe Romney is anything but what he has ALWAYS been... A politician and nothing more, he will say and do anything for power. Good luck with GOPL, the new GOP, Grand Old Progressive Lite.
Okay. It’s official.
No, a moderate day for the GOP, another sad day for conservatives.
Romney/Clinton 2008. There, I’ve finally found a team that makes sense.
I don’t agree with you. I think Mitt can beat Hillary. She comes across as a hateful ole hag who no one wants to listen to for the next 4 years. The HATE is much greater for Hillary than it has been for Bush. Romney can win over housewives and single women.
Well, Obadiah just quit the 2008 elections too.
Palin? Who is that?
So, basically, we bleed to death by a hundred paper cuts instead of a thousand.
I’ll be writing in Hunter’s name
L.Ron Paul and the Seven Liberal Dwarves.
America is so screwed.
This country has no conservative candidate and my vote is now a stay home.
This country is doomed.
My thoughts exactly.
Good bye, good luck ,and God bless you Fred.
Thanks for giving it a shot and communicating conservatism while you could. Hopefully your principled conservatism and federalist outlook will be adopted and adhered to by one of the other candidates.
Well, not unexpected of course. Fred was the closest to a true conservative and now we’re stuck with a least worst candidate scenario.
On one hand we can give up, hand the Dems the Whitehouse and hope that along with the Pelosi/Reid congress they screw up so gigantically, it will ensure a 1994 style take back of congress in 2010. The problem is that the Dems will enact 100s of government programs we get to pay for forever. Government programs are like weeds, they are near impossible to get rid off.
On the other hand, we can (try) to get behind whoever is the Republican nominee, work to regain the house and senate with conservative candidates, and minimize the damage.
It appears inevitable that whichever party controls congress and the whitehouse, government will grown, spending will increase, handouts to illegals will be given... I guess the rate at which we are moving to a socialist state will be either fast or slow.
I think that a Dem president with a Republican congress would be the best solution. They’ll work against eachother, which by defacto is beneficial for the people. George W. Bush has been a major dissapointment to me in regards to spending, by not vetoing early and often. Out of all the candidates, Fred was the only one I had faith in actually capping spending.
JP
Fred Thompson NEVER had his heart in this race.
Glad he’s out, we didn’t need a half baked attempt.
L.Ron Paul and the Seven Liberal Dwarves.
America is so screwed.
He’s not conservative, on the whole. He is, perhaps, the least atrocious of the remaining candidates. Two entirely different things.
