Fox News ^ | Monday, January 21, 2008 | Fox News

With popularity comes notoriety. That’s the lesson Ron Paul is learning as the nation observes Martin Luther King Day and the GOP presidential contender bears the burden of disparaging comments, made in a newsletter bearing his name, about the slain civil rights leader and the national holiday that honors him.

it never ends....academia and the media have ruined at least a generation of what might have been Reagan style conservatives

Good info.

To bad we don’t have a graph of how much the left hates us, that would go through the damn roof,

You idiot, the reason why Washington’s birthday and Lincon’s birthday were consolidated was because it was a major inconvenience having 2 major holidays so close together in the same month. Also, Lincon’s birthday was NEVER celebrated in the South. So watch your facts. But of course, watching things is hard when you have a pointy hood on your head.

I believe Dr. King allied with the radical left, not inasmuch as he really believed what they believed (He was a registered Republican before the war) but rather, they were a very powerful voting bloc of that time, and he wanted to get his message across.

You make strange bedfellows when you have an agenda, and not surprisingly, MLK, at that time, who was a lifelong Republican, sided with the left, only because he was more interested in getting his agenda brought forward.

And besides, winning a war abroad to bring freedom to South Vietnamese would mean nothing if there was no freedom for American minorities. We would have been hypocrites to fight that war and not help minorities gain equal rights.

Crazy Train ping

Lil John and Trick Daddy did a remix to this song. It's very good, but I doubt hip-hop is your thing.

I'm just enjoying all this cult worship from Ron Paul Zombies who are using MLK as a campaign tool to show his lust for "Freedom", only to have these stories surface.

Well, the MLK thingy was planned well in advance before TNR decided to go dumpster-diving for Paul's newsletters. And how convenient that FOX suddenly brings this up on MLK Day, when before they ignored Paul.

The tool of race baiting is too mighty a siren for folks who feel that thirst to feel morally superior to the man/woman sitting next to them.

Those who pretend to be above the sets we're brought up in are just that...pretenders or manipulators. I like Thompson because he never tries to deny he's a good ol' boy cracker. A wise and fair cracker is far more preferable than most of these other candidates running so far from themselves as to lose sight of who they really are.

Several states to go...

As FR is cited or hinted at in every other political news show or radio broadcast I have no doubt that it’s influence marches on. Not to forget the conservative authors, blogs, podcasts...

The dinosaur media’s potentates have lost the war but will continue to pretend they’ve won on their bought channels. Rather nice that they’re conflicted between Hillary and that Islamic guy right now.

I believe Dr. King allied with the radical left, not inasmuch as he really believed what they believed

King was a former member of the CPUSA and took money from them....that is more than just an alliance.....this is an old fight....no sense to beat it to death but even the most charitable review of his history is very ambivalent

and look at Google today.....the cowards won't mention Jesus on Christmas or Easter yet there is MLK on their banner

something wrong with our culture today

King over George Washington...not in my book, his holiday is pure pandering and guilt driven

Though the only namecalling I see on this forum is from a small group of Paul haters that congregate on these threads.

I know I've already responded to this, but wanted to point this out: like I said, you’re a race baiter. Is this type of baiting something you're proud of? As I wrote yesterday, you need to bring your own house in order before you criticize others.
