FLASH: RASMUSSEN Florida poll to be released: Romney 25, McCain 20, Giuliani 19... Developing...
OTOH, McCain talks like a liberal, for the most part. If that doesent disqualify you, what does? ..Romney is imperfect, but Im hoping he choose well for VP, if he gets that far
Yes, he would. They are very good friends. The problem is that McCain really needs a youngish governor, should he win the nomination, like Sanford or Pawlenty. Fred would be another old guy on the ticket.
Rudy is the only person who can beat McCain for NY and NJ. Romney can’t.

Do NY and NJ let independents vote in the Republican primary?
In Florida and beyond, any vote for Thompson or Huck is a de facto vote for McCain.
Romney is the only conservative left standing.
If McCain wins Florida, it’s over. And Huck will be his VP to shore up conservative support. What a hideous ticket.
“You forgot delusional, demented and in poor health.”
Actually I haven’t forgotten at all and I totally agree with you. That says how much I mistrust Romney. I really don’t like McCain either.
I agree. I have been suggesting Mitt/Fred as a ticket to consider, if the principles agree. The idea seems to be getting a bit more palatable here on FR, too. It really does make some sense as a balanced ticket if you think about it.
I believe both NY and NJ are closed primaries. Romney can win in NJ over Giuliani.
Well said, and should be repeated often. I like Fred, too, but facts being what they are...
The RATS go first — let Hillary decide if she wants Obama over Richardson. Then Romney can choose whom he wants. He may need Condi or JC Watts.
Yep, McCain does sound just like Hillary on war on terror. Both also favor amnesty, and that is another blow on WOT. One difference is that McCain has looks feeble and Cindy had to help him out of the plane last week. Then he walked similar to Tim Conway on Carol Burnett show. Would not surprise me if McCain has a physical or mental breakdown anytime.
I said from the beginning that Mitt would run off with it, get the nom, ad then the WH. Rudy and McCain are splitting the moderate vote, lol.
It’s worse than that. The first thing McCain will do is break his word on making the tax cuts permanent in exchange for “spending cuts” which never materialize from the RATS.
McCain is already hedging against the stimulus package.
McCain is not a supply-side conservative and Kemp should be ashamed of himself.
Given what we are given, I could live with Romney and Michael Steele...impressive guy.
McCain is in terrible shape. Let’s not be Doled again. Defeat McCain pronto!
If McCain gets the nod and runs against Hillary-Billary not only would I have to hold my nose, but the upset stomach would be severe!!!
Politicians are a product of their environment, for the most part. They try to position themselves so that they are as close to the middle of their constituency as they can be, without violating their own principles. That’s why I give Romney a pass on some of his positions as governor of MA. It’s also why I give Giuliani a pass on some of his positions as mayor of NY.
McCain has no excuse. Huckabee has no excuse. Both of those guys are from very conservative states, yet they pursue very liberal policies. That tells me that they are really libs, while the “real” Romney might very well be a conservative.
Since there is no clearly authentic conservative in this race, I’m betting on the horse I think might most likely turn out to be a conservative... And that is Romney. At least he talks like a conservative, and has a plausible excuse for what I consider to be an overly liberal record—unlike his opponents.
Mitt will probably choose someone from the South, Haley Barbour, or someone like that. He will hold all the Red States, Mass will be on the table, and he will win Michigan, because of that bimbo Governor. Winning Michigan would put him in the WH.
Steele s/b at the top of the ticket!
Watts would be very cool for VP. He’s got the youth and energy to run alongside Mitt and fight his Democrat counterpart 24x7.
McCain LOOKS in terrible shape. He says he’s only a few years older than Reagan when he first ran, and then a pundit said, “but Reagan looked like a million bucks.” Case closed. McCain looks 90.
