There’s no obvious reason for Kerry to lie about this.

RRRIII-i-i-i-ight! "We cut off heads, raped, looted, and tortured in the manner of Ghingis Kahn..." "I actually did vote for it before I voted against it!" "I was in Cambodia in Christmas of 1968!" etc., etc., etc...

I have a serious problem with another President (in 8 years)from Hope, AR. That's like two Presidents from Solvang but different.

Huckabee will lose to Hillary, Thanks for the clarification. :^)

Kerry, like lots of Dems, has no conception of the differencce between fact and fiction. As in Orwell’s world, you say whatever comes into your mind that seems to advance your political goals. Sometimes, like the Clintons or the New York Times, you say things that aren’t true for no apparent reason.

Even if he is lying, it appears that McCain ADMITS that Kerry approached him about being on Kerry’s ticket. That’s almost as damning, if you ask me.

Rush said it was true and that McCain took a long time to turn him down.

Reason number 2,004 not to support McCain in 2008.

It sounds like Kerry approached McCain, and McCain’s people were just feeling Kerry out and stringing him along.

How about McCain’s even weaker denial that he approached the Dems about switching sides in 2001? (Just saying that he was ‘never serious’ about switching?)

Why is Kerry saying this now?

Because he misses seeing his face on television.

Hopefully, this kills McAmnesty’s campaign. He should be honest and come out of the closet:

“I’m a Democrat and I’m proud of it”

Rush said it was true and that McCain took a long time to turn him down.

That would be the salient fact.

Kerry could have asked Duncan Hunter, Oprah, the Easter Bunny, (would explaing the blue bunny suit ;_)) Obama, and a host of others.

What matters is not who was asked, but whether they fell down pointing and laughing; looked puzzled, and said, "Hell NO!"; or said, "I'll give that serious consideration,"...and did.

I don’t know if it is true or not but if it is not true he may be saying it to get back at McCain for saying no when Kerry asked him. If McCain had joined him it would have probably given Kerry the win.

He just lies on autopilot.

Kerry asked McCain to consider VP spot

David M. Halbfinger, New York Times

Saturday, June 12, 2004

“Kerry, the Massachusetts senator, made his first direct overtures to McCain about three weeks after locking up the Democratic nomination in March, and approached him again, in person or by telephone, as many as seven times, as recently as last week, according to one person who has discussed the issue with both.

“It was always artfully phrased, but he asked him on several occasions to serve as his running mate,” the individual said. “He’d say, ‘I don’t want to formally ask, because I don’t want to be formally rejected, but having said that, would you do it?’ or ‘I need you to do it,’ or ‘I want you to do it.’

“It was always phrased in such a way as to give both men plausible deniability,” the individual added.

“Word of Kerry’s personal entreaties, and McCain’s flat refusal, may bring an end to the persistent and at times fevered speculation among Democrats and others about the potential of a bipartisan ticket.”

“There’s no obvious reason for Kerry to lie about this.”

Other than the fact that he’s a serial liar...

If Kerry said the sky is blue, I’d have to look outside to check.

I don’t know if it is true or not but if it is not true he may be saying it to get back at McCain for saying no when Kerry asked him.

That makes sense.

There is another read here, McCain asked Kerry if he (McCain) could be his (Kerry’s) Veep rather than the other way round. Either way, it does show the real JMC and how he has no conservatism in his DNA.
