Who would you now support? Also for Fred supporters only, if Fred endorses McCain, what impact would it have on your vote?

Thank you for your leadership. I agree with you.
I'd sooner vote (though he's been dead 30+ years) for Adam Clayton Powell, than for McCain. At least he was unabashedly a dishonest, pandering (any other kind?) Democrat.
“Romney at least is saying most of the right things...but his commitment to them are still suspect.”
You all are forgetting one little thing about Romney. He is a comparatively young man still (only 60). Romney is going to want to be Prez for more than one term. He wants 8 years, not 4. Now, if he wants that second term, he pretty much has to toe the line as to what he has promised he will do on conservative issues, otherwise there will be no second term. So I believe he will hew to the Pub party conservative line.
Now, McCain is another matter altogether. He is a much older man (70). He will be a one termer, and he knows it. He won’t care what the base of his party thinks about what he does for even a nanosecond. He will do what he wants. He will fulfill in spades his maverick status, which means he will pair up with the Dems and govern like one of them. And who could stop him. He won’t be having a second term, so what does he care who’s angry with him. He doesn’t care now. Amnesty for illegals, here it comes for sure. Who’s to stop him? No one. So any Pub that votes for McCain is more insane than John McInsane. And will probably get Sen. Lindsey Gramnesty as VP for a bonus prize.
find your woobie blanket and get to your room if youre gonna pout
I would not vote for McCain if he put me on the ticket as his VP. There is no way I will vote for a Soros owned candidate, McCain or Hillary.
I feel as you do but will hold my nose and vote for just about anyone to beat the bitch or the affirmative action candidate for Islam.
...and as I have explained before this is because I personally will not put my name down in support of anyone who is an open supporter of abortion or homsexuality.”

Ditto here.....(for what it’s worth).
Senator Coburn endorsed McCain recently.
My first inclination is that if I support an unacceptable Republican JUST because he is a Republican, then I will be obliged to do so again in 2012 if he wins, and that man will almost certainly be replaced by a Democrat (Obama probably) in 2016 who may, in turn, be relected.
So, in practical effect, a victory by McCain in 2008 is a victory for 16 years of conservatism out of power.
I’ll take my chances with 4 years of Hillary now rather than vote for that.
there are, however, two exceptions.
1. i will support ANY other Republican until Huckabee is defeated. i cannot risk his election.
2. IF Romney or rudy were the nominee, and he was wise enough to choose one of my conservative heroes (J.C. Watts, Ideally) as his running mate, I would support him.
In fact, I expect I could get pretty enthusiastic about a Romeny/Watts ticket.

Yes, I know. That was really disappointing...and don't get me wrong, if Fred endorses McPain, I'll be disapointed too. Just not surprised. This is just a matter of endorsing your friend.
Too bad, but a fact of life.

I’m writing in Tom Eaker if Fred walks........
You nailed it about both Romney and McManiac.

For now, I am sticking with Fred for as long as he is in the race.
If he drops out, I will look elsewhere.
I will NEVER vote for either Hucklebee or McLame. NEVER. Not even if Fred personally asked me to.
Isn’t McCain anti-gun rights? If so, I don’t think our votes would go to him.
I don’t know where they would go. Gun rights are about #1 on my husband’s agenda, pro-life on mine, and neither of us will support a man who is weak on the WOT.

At this point, I intend to cast my vote for Fred. There’s no one else I picture myself voting for.
Perhaps I’ll change my mind when it gets down to it, if a particularly objectionable candidate is leading, but I will likely vote for the only conservative rather than against the worst RINO.
My choice is “None of the Above”.
Mitt’s a hard-line Massachusetts socialist, and that’s exactly what we’ll get for 4-8 years if he’s elected. He might be nominally to the right of the Rats in Mass or Chicago, but he’s still bad news.

Wrong, but you’ll find that out when Mitt is Prez. Then you can eat your words for breakfast.
