Right To Life Group Sends Plastic Fetus In Mail

RACINE, Wis. -- A right to life group in Racine is under fire after mailing controversial material to 44,000 people.

It included an informational letter, a fundraising envelope and a small plastic fetus.

Mystical Listrom said she was not happy with what she found inside when she opened a letter from Wisconsin Right to Life accompanied by a plastic fetus.

"It's my right to choose to do what I want with my body. I shouldn't have people telling me what I can and can't do with my body," Listrom said.

Her neighbor, Glenda Pollock, got the same package.

"If they had sent a letter explaining why they think abortion should not be allowed, I wouldn't have a problem with that. It was the plastic fetus that bothered me," Pollock said.

"We thought it would be appropriate to send out some information to get people talking about the subject," said Dave Obernberger of Wisconsin Right to Life.

Dave and Bonnie Obernberger, with the Racine County chapter of Wisconsin Right to Life, are the people behind the mailing.

They said the plastic figure represents an 11- or 12-week fetus.

They sent it out this week to mark the 35-year anniversary of Roe Vs. Wade, the Supreme Court decision legalizing abortion.

"I pray that they'll look at it a little more than being offended by it, but being educated by it," Dave Obernberger said.

The Obernbergers said they have already gotten some response, and they expect more.

Pollock wasted no time having her voice heard. She brought the package to the post office and mailed it back.

"I had to pay to have it returned because it was a non-profit mailing, which I was happy to pay. It was just over $1 and it was well worth it," Pollock said.

Pollock filed a complaint with the U.S. Postal Service; however, it doesn't appear to be illegal.

Postal officials said it doesn't fit their standards of obscene or lewd, but they said people can fill out a form that would prevent them from getting mail from Wisconsin Right to Life in the future.

The mailers were sent to every home in Racine and to some of the surrounding suburbs.

Oh, I hate anyone who believes their cause is so righteous they believe that they can hurt anyone they want to.

I'm curious...since discussing the existence of the human fetus is now too hurtful, how exactly are pro-lifers supposed to speak out about abortion? By the standard you've set, we couldn't even do the prayer service I'm going to tomorrow, because someone might pass by and be reminded of something painful.

the next time there is a thread about a mentally ill, paraplegic, homeless man with an ostomy being dumped in the gutter— and folks cheering and making out like that’s OK—— I’m pinging all of you guys.

I mean, all life has value, even if they’re smell, crazy, disgusting and homeless, right?

I'm not getting your point here. Has this happened somewhere? If so, I'd like a link. Is it your contention that pro-lifers don't care about people like the guy you've described?

Here's a Yellow Pages Search that shows the listing most crisis pregnancy centers use, "Abortion Alternatives." I don't recall what town you live in, so you might want to hit "beyond Madison" and see what turns up.

On a national level, donating to CareNet is a very good idea.

And hey, if you have the time, volunteer. I've never come across a center that couldn't use a pair of hands, and I already know you're a nice person. :-)

Besides, it'll take your mind off the Packers...oy vey!

Wait a minute,
I don’t know you from Adams housecat- You know absolutely nothing about me at all....and all I know about you is you have the personality of a 5 year needing a nap.—

YOU are the one who started the repeated personal attacks out of the blue-—
Not once, but TWICE!!! Insulting me and bringing over a non-related thread and jumping in the middle of a set of posts between another poster and I...which, unless you’re sleeping with him,, was none of your business, especially since it’s resolved between he and I offsite!

Both times I answered you as succinctly and to the point as possible.

YOU are the one needing cork--- up your butt for your idiotic, childish and purely bratty behavior. As for people needing to go to other sites, I hear they're looking for moderators on the Doodlebops forum.

Great idea!

Maybe more Americans will WAKE UP and realize that this isn’t a piece of discarded tissue, but a human being created by a loving God with gifts, talents, and abilities to be a blessing to mankind.

Abortion is legalized murder and a terrible disgrace to America. We all need to repent and ask for God’s mercy and deliverance from this wickedness in our nation.

Any pro-choice elected official or one running for public office is terribly deceived and has joined with Satan for the destruction of innocent children.

This genocide, several times deadlier than the holocaust (over 40 million murdered children and counting since 1973) will eventually be stopped, and not a moment too soon.

You can go anywhere legal and public you want to express and get the word out about anything you believe...
ANYTHING...

....just don’t infringe on my private space to do so.... I see the mail as that—— Granted, that’s the way I see it and others may not.

Oh and yes, I do send stuff back telling them to never send me stuff again, but I don’t get much junk mail.

Also, there were repeated remarks that anyone upset by said mailings deserved to be upset-— they had a guilty conscience, or had done something bad to deserve feeling hurt.... That their being hurt was a good thing.

I was simply pointing out that there were many scenarios where someone could be upset by said mailings and not be an bad person deserving of said pain.

And yes, I’ll send you a link....there are those who are purely disgusting and unlovable that society seems to literally see as trash.

Mystical Listrom said she was not happy...

Mystical?

That's all I need to know about her.

Here we go
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-backroom/1955396

Note, there were even those that assumed he was a drug user, which made any mistreatment (real or imagined) OK. Oh, and not only is he mentally ill, and paraplegic, but he has an ostomy also.

When I first read the headline, I missed the word "plastic", and was ready to call it inappropriate.

"It's my right to choose to do what I want with my body. I shouldn't have people telling me what I can and can't do with my body," Listrom said.

Ummm. No. It's about what you can and can't do with someone elses body.

"If they had sent a letter explaining why they think abortion should not be allowed, I wouldn't have a problem with that. It was the plastic fetus that bothered me," Pollock said.

Why? It's not even graphic. It's barely symbolic.

If were possible to time travel, I wonder what this woman would say if a pro-abortionist travelled back in time and convinced her mother to have an abortion while she was pregnant with this future woman?

I know a nutty young woman who supports abortion because of how it makes her feel special that her mother aborted three of her siblings but not her.

You're right, that thread is horrible, and some of the reponses in it were stomach turning.

I'm still not seeing what it has to do with pro-lifers.

Some people just cannot HANDLE the TRUTH.

It incenses them no end, because it delegitimizes their whole "woman's right to choose" empty assertion. Cant have THAT!!

I am to the point where I need a “baby fix” and to be around young people more often. This ‘Empty Nest’ thing kind of sucks. :( I mean, I see my boys a lot, but I miss them being underfoot. I know. I prayed for the day they would leave...and now I actually miss the annoying, needy, bottomless pit useless feeders, LOL!

I was thinking of rocking babies again at the local hospital.

Thanks for the CareNet resource and while I allowed myself one day to grieve the Packers, I’m much better now, LOL!
