He was contractually obligated to L & O, and couldn’t commit until that was worked out.

For your sake, I’m very pleased that you chose to eschew the “dicing” ceremonies.

Apparently, it occurred to you that I’m always the "dicer".

How is everyone and yourself?

I don't see the new specialist till Thursday, so no change for me.

They've decided my dad doesn't really have pneumonia, just fluid in his lungs that they can't get rid of. Same difference, in my mind. They have gotten rid of the infection in his arm and the incision for the surgery in his abdomen is doing better, but he's now so weak that he can't stand on his own. My sister who lives out there is taking on the biggest burden through this, and is sounding more and more like she's preparing us all for him not coming out of this.

Having worked as an EMT driving ambulances years ago I have a pretty good idea of the odds and I'm trying not to be either pessimistic nor optimistic, just realistic. What really bothers me, however, is that my situation is keeping me from going out there and helping.

LOL.

I only realised very recently why a lot of plastic and glass jugs are 32oz. Not only is this 2 pints in the American measure but very close to a litre so it is a very convenient size to use in Europe.

In Britain 40oz of course is 2 pints.

Thinking of you, I am sure your family will understand the position you are in and why you cannot be there though I this does make it any easier for you.

To: Cedric; Alas Babylon!

I accept your claim that addressing your replies to me, “Cedric; All” was not the desperate cry for help from a person who felt and, indeed, was out gunned in a duel with the master.

But, it was a perfect imitation of one.

~~~~
If those aren’t the words of a pompous
twit, I don’t know what is.
Give it a break, will ya?
The Sunday Morning TalkShow Thread has been
a FR standout and mainstay for years, and
certainly NOT a place for banal, personal
sniping and provocation. We’d like to keep
it that way, please.
Maybe you just like seeing “Cedric”
at the bottom of posts, I don’t know.
But whatever your issues, you certainly
have the option of posting your own threads
for the perverse sparring (or “dueling”)
pleasure you seem to derive out of inciting
posters with your unseemly and disrespectful
language and tone.
I’d encourage that, if you’re so at odds
with the opinions and comments of the fine,
and, in the majority, very thoughtful and
reasonable FReepers who are consistent
participants here.
~~~~

Alas, I’m pinging you as I’m stepping into
your territory; but I’m not content to
see the quality of this thread continually
sullied.

Romney’s evasive answer regarding lobbyist’s working for and contributing financially to his campaign.

You mischaracterize the question and the answer. The question was about “RUNNING” the campaign and Romney was quite detailed in the denial. The reporter was making news not reporting it and if he didn’t like the detailed answer, it was up to him to get more information and REPORT on it.

Sir or madam,

I engaged in lively debate with someone. But I committed the cardinal Sunday morning sin: I persisted in my dissent from the orthodoxy according to one of this thread’s stalwarts.

My opponent clearly elicited reinforcements to gang up on me by labeling his replies “Cedric; All”. I called him on it. I hit a nerve.

Now, to the larger issue. With all due respect, this thread is run like a high school clique. It’s like an echo chamber each week. And you are cold, intolerant and dismissive to “outsiders”.

I lurked for several years and was astonished at the level of intellectual in breeding and self congratulations {with “awards” given weekly to the same small handful of participants} while dissenters were slighted or, worse yet, attacked. The holier and more pure than Thou definitions of who is acceptably “conservative” I found truly stifling.

You seem to be proud of this thread. I am embarrassed by it. On the one hand you demand civility and decorum from others, yet I, for one, have been rhetorically assaulted on this thread to a degree I’ve encountered on no other.

And you take yourselves way too seriously.

So, I decided to have a little fun with you. And you took the bait.

Don’t bother telling me that I’m the only reprobate on this thread. I would retort by citing a thread, just last night, on which one of your “regulars’ viciously accosted a fellow FReeper {complete with name calling and slurs} over what was a simple difference in point of view. Then we’d be engaged in a meaningless spitting contest.

Perhaps you'd like to banish me into outer darkness, but as a Bible believing, Pro-life, Born Again Christian, Constitutionalist, I belong here. {Although I wonder if I'd get any more grief over at the DU or Huffington Post.}

Finally, if you don’t render unto me the respect and admiration I so richly deserve, in time I will feel compelled to leave this weekly gathering of august FReepers and never return. Then you’ll all be sorry! You've been warned!

All right, everyone... this is my first time doing the awards, and instead of a Top Ten ranking, I’m going to list a series of “honorable mentions” in no particular order. I went through the thread and picked out the most notable posts, and ordered them by poster. The top 3 have already been ranked and sent to snugs for awards processing. Please, this is only a JPEG award, don’t take it personally if you weren’t listed.

Honorable mentions:

rodguy911 - Would likely be listed just barely in 4th place, he had a lot of good posts this week and so did the top 3 posters. Top posts from rodguy911: 36, 64, 117, 153, 186, 387, 456

morgan in denver - Top posts: 5, 30, 107, 209

khnyny - Top posts: 182, 261, 428, 466

tcats - Top posts: 201, 215

carolinamom - Top posts: 138, 239, 418

anita - Top posts: 2, 9, 14

thespiritofallegiance - For his excellent post #47

Top 3 to be released Sunday morning with the live thread.
