You are not alone. Fred really should have gotten started a lot sooner. I think it would have made a huge difference.

CNN had, and may still have, a list by state on open and closed primaries. I initially thought SC was closed but I was corrected by another Freeper. (God love is when we make a mistake, we know we’ll be corrected. LOL)

Well, sometimes less is more. Less govenment, less regulation, less taxes (personal and corporate).

That being said, imho, the real issue which is not being highlighted or even discussed at this point is the SCOTUS. 2008 is all about the SCOTUS.

Judge Robert Bork endorsed Mitt Romney. That’s a huge endorsement, imho.

http://www.newsmax.com/insidecover/Bork_Endorses_Romney/2007/12/15/57308.html

[Noted conservative jurist Judge Robert Bork endorsed Governor Mitt Romney for President of the United States Saturday.

Joining Romney for President, Judge Bork said, “Throughout my career, I have had the honor of serving under several Presidents and am proud to make today’s endorsement. No other candidate will do more to advance the conservative judicial movement than Governor Mitt Romney. He knows firsthand how the judicial branch can profoundly affect the future course of a state and a nation. I greatly admired his leadership in Massachusetts in the way that he responded to the activist court’s ruling legalizing same-sex ‘marriage.’ His leadership on the issue has served as a model to the nation on how to respect all of our citizens while respecting the rule of law at the same time.”

Judge Bork continued, “Our next President may be called upon to make more than one Supreme Court nomination, and Governor Romney is committed to nominating judges who take their oath of office seriously and respect the rule of law in our nation. I also support Governor Romney because of his character, his integrity and his stands on the major issues facing the United States.”]

I think the reason a lot of Americans don't save and invest is because they're so intimidated by the alphabet soup of tax-code created savings plans: 401(k)s, 403(b)s, 529s, IRAs, Roth IRAs, HSAs, et cetera ad nauseum. One wrong step in that labyrinth, and you're slammed with penalties and double taxation. The only way through it is to pay brokers, financial planners, and tax lawyers exorbitant fees and commissions for the privilege of not having your hard-earned money further confiscated by the government.

Is it any wonder Americans don't save money? Just think of the good that could be done by simply allowing Americans to save a substantial (not just part of their money tax-free. It would give Americans who are working their asses off just to make ends meet some light at the end of the tunnel, and allow them to take ownership of their own futures, rather than dependent upon their employers or the government.

Couple that with a tax system that's more favorable to doing business in the US, and we could even ensure that most of the resultant surge in investment is directed right here at home, doing wonders for our economy. In addition to their savings, those Americans might actually be able to find a better-paying job in the long run.

When the government gets out of the way and treats Americans like responsible adults, there's no telling how far Americans can go. As George S. Patton once said, “Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity.”

You share the same concerns as Mark Levin. He often says watch out for the judiciary. He is right, as are you.

Brilliant post here, but it’s like poison to the dem/rats. They want govt. in control of everything. Cradle to grave. And are not too bashful about saying so anymore.

He was ugly to MNJ

How is it then, that MNJohnnie was the one who received the dreaded banishment and not I?

In last week's thread the Moderator wrote (#424), "Knock off the personal attacks" in response to MNJohnnie's salvos launched against me!

Indeed, so savage were MNJohnnie's comments that #320, #345, #369, #381 and #387 were removed! Yes, it was a vile and withering assault!!

On This Week -

Stephanopolous recited the primary winners of this week - two different times in the first five minutes of his show:
Romney in Michigan
Clinton in Nevada
McCain in South Carolina

It is no accident that he left off Romney winning in Nevada because he wanted to leave the impression of HIllary as a winner of a State Contest, not just a party primary.
