ABC's Christine Byun reports: Republican candidate Fred Thompsons campaign is accusing rival Mike Huckabees campaign of more "dirty tricks" in South Carolina.
They say fliers with misleading information about the former Tennessee senators abortion record were placed on parked cars at their event venue last night (http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/01/thompson-lets-g.html). The fliers insinuate Thompson voted for funding for abortions through a bill that supported Planned Parenthood. Thompson - who has received the endorsement of national anti-abortion organization National Right to Life - did vote for the bill in question, H.R. 3061. However, the bill specifically states that it does not include federal funding for abortions and does not mention Planned Parenthood. The flier quotes Scripture - Proverbs 31:8 - and includes a picture of the former Senator.
"Sen. Thompson worked in the Senate to ensure that federal funds did not go to abortion," a Thompson campaign spokesman, who provided a copy of a flier, said.
Earlier this week, the Thompson campaign accused Huckabee supporters of push-polling calls.
These deceptive tactics are yet another sad sign that Gov. Huckabee cannot engage in a substantive discussion of the important public policy issues facing our country, Dean Rice, the South Carolina campaign manager, said in a written statement.
It is going to happen! We'll get to see!
The next time he pulls that, Fred or someone should reply, "Because of waht you and the other liberals have done to them, Governor."
(Keyes would probably do it if they'd let him, but the media has apparently decided that a second black guy running for President is "uppity" so they won't allow him to run. Just ignore him until he goes away.)
I’m pretty sure no one else would have Rollins. He’s burned bridges, and has a rep for whining, blaming everyone and everything besides himself for failures in his campaigns. When Huckabee’s campaign finally bites the dust, look for Rollins to turn on him too.
I like a lot of what he stands for, but Keyes has become a joke.
There's no need to make this racial. Republican voters aren't paying him any attention, why should anybody else?
In honor of what somebody did. My Aunt holds the Bible and other things 50 people actually did. Nothing political at all.
Signing a Bible in a vain attempt at popularity is the best way to get God to spank him. Jesus threw people like that out of a temple 2000 years ago.
Huck is the Democrat mole within the GOP.
And he doesn’t even qualify for Phil Crane’s wonderful 1980 description of John Anderson at a Republican debate — “You’re the classiest Democrat running.” That would be McVain.
They are being systmatically denied the opportunity.
Nonsense. Do you think all Republican voters meekly follow the lead of the MSM?
You mean to tell me you don't think the drive-by media and the politicians they support ar efundamentally racist?
You can’t pay any attention to a candidate that the media systematically excludes from all forums.
Even on “Hannity and Colmes”, when they do “The Fastest Two Segments in Politics” they have pictures of signs for all the candidates — except, for some reason, Keyes.
The candidate selectos deliberately exclude him, but still include some candidates who have withdrawn.
He’s never interviewed anywhere. Basically, teh media is treting Dr. Keyes like an unperson. Apparently, he forgot to ask their permission before deciding to run for President (unlike Obama.) So they’re deliberately going to ignore and exclude this “uppity” you-know-what fromany opportunity to talk to voters.
Meaning that even Republican voters are given no choice but to ignore him.
Freepers in Florida can ask Fred themselves when Fred gets there, but his answer ain't gonna change. Not gonna endorse Juan.
You can ask Freepers in Florida when Fred gets there how they are feeling, but Fred's answer ain't gonna change. Not gonna endorse Juan.
And exactly how is that supposed to convince me to vote for Mr. Huckabee?
Heh heh. You said it. The Huckbots are getting rather "stale" with their comments.....
I'm saying "they're excluding him because he's black" is the cry of a loser.
Maybe Keyes has no traction because he no longer has credibility with conservatives? His Senate race sure did it for me.
LOL! I think he does think he wrote it — or at least helped!
They’re excluding him and denying Republican voters the opportunity to see and hear him for some reason. The reasons usually given are nonsense.
Maybe he thinks it is a living, breathing document. And is going to add a section in it on hanging and killing dogs.
The object of flyers like these isn't to get someone to vote for you but to get someone not to vote for someone else.
