Spoke with my Father in-law this past weekend, he told me he was voting for IcInsane. I sent him the link to Fred's website and urged him to read his positions. Got a email from him yesterday, here is his response.

You got me, I'm falling into line! McCain is very much hated here in SC, this week he spoke here in SC and as he left the stage a curtain fell as if an omen! Illegals are very much an issue here in the Carolina's, They get treated for free in the hospital's, and they suck up all of the Job's. I've read everything I could this week and I'm satisfied, voting tomorrow morning. Dad

Candidate~~~1/16~~~1/18~~~Republicans of 1/18

Huckabee~~~23%~~~33%~~~37%
Thompson~~~13%~~~21%~~~22%
McCain~~~33%~~~26%~~~22%
Romney~~~20%~~~9%~~~unreported
Giuliani~~~4%~~~3%~~~unreported
Paul~~~1%~~~2%~~~unreported
Keyes~~~2%~~~1%~~~unreported
Hunter~~~1%~~~1%~~~unreported

(Now, do they show Thompson behind 26-21, or is he already ahead, and ARG only wanted to correct the results enough to show Thompson had “trend”?)

Note also: Huckabee gained 17 points relative to McCain!

Take home message is that the race is so volatile, we don’t really know who will win until the numbers roll in tonight - period. In the meantime, Fredheads please keep calling for Fred this morning and early afternoon!

ARG has had some odd results, and these results (including Romney going down to Ron Paul land) are some of the weirdest I have ever seen. Hope they are right about Fred.

I don’t understand the numbers. Does Fred have 13% support or 21? Is that 22% undecided?

As we saw in NH, the pollsters do not always get it right. Take this with a boulder of salt.

I believe Fred is surging in SC, as the MSM seems to be 'warming up' to the idea that Huck, Mac, and even Mitt are not garnering any new news they can foist on us.

Fred has boots on the ground talking to the people, and the media, when HE has the time. The MSM is chapped that he doesn't bend over and kiss their butt for attention.

Notice his response to Hucksters "living and breathing' Constitution remarks? Fred's criticism comment was online within a couple of HOURS. Have any of the other candidates even mentioned Hucksters remarks?

ARG polls are complete crap, in this case they are underestimating Fred’s surge. Go FRED go!

“PEOPLE!!! If you have ever wondered whether pollsters flat-out lie, this should be proof. ARG’s polls, (like Zogby, and sadly, the once gold-standard Gallup) have been complete nonsense all primary season long.”

GOT TINFOIL?

WOW, that is a lot. Good for FRed! Also note that McCain has dropped 7 percent (good), Romney has dropped 10 percent (not playing in SC — he’ll win NV), Huckabee went up 10 percent (looks like he’ll win in SC), and Giuliani is floundering another primary in low single digits.

“This is nothing more than a desperate attempt to cover-up an unending barrage of obscene lies by last-minute changes, so ARG can claim that they were accurate in the future.”

Well said. This has happened many times before in races between the parties. I haven’t noticed it in primaries, probably because I was not looking. Usually, they say “the race is tightening up.” Early false reports guide some to vote for the winner and away from anyone who is not a contender. Business money, and political endorsements, flow more freely to the contenders, as there is little reason to befriend a loser. As a persistent reality sets in, the polls and press claim "a sudden shift in attitudes" as "late-breaking news." In general, polling organizations may be dishonest, but the press is often dishonest if politics and ideology are involved. Sometimes it’s the reporting on the polls that is manipulative and misleading.

All things considered, I think Thompson is the best candidate that the GOP can put forward at this time. The others have major weaknesses in their political track records, personal lives/beliefs, and previous administrative expirience.

This is not just a popularity contest. The Office of the POTUS, is not about state dinners, foreign visitors, throwing out the first pitch and every once in a while, giving a speech. It is the toughest, roughest, job in the world of being an executive. Tougher than heading Ford Co, tougher than running IBM, tougher than running a Tel Co, tougher than running them all put together.

It’s being responsible for solving/dealing with a constant 24/7 series of overlapping crises, that occur on a daily/hourly/weekly/mothly/second by second basis, and every decision can effect not only all 300 odd million Americans, but hundreds of millions of people in other nations as well.

There is no resting on ones laurels after getting elected...*that’s* when things start getting really rough, and *really* real.

It’s not a job for a pretty boy, or space cadet, or one who can’t be trusted to act in the countrys best interest instead of their own, or their partys. It cergaionly sho7uld never br given to a coward.

Thompson will be # 1 or 2 in South Carolina.  Hang on and watch.  It's going to be a great ride!
