Fred Thompson, making what could be his last stand in South Carolina, has inched up to third in the latest tracking poll leading up to Saturday's first-in-the-South primary. Thompson has 14 percent in the Reuters/C-SPAN/Zogby poll released this morning, sliding ahead of Mitt Romney, who slipped to 12 percent, even though some of the polling was done after he won the Michigan primary on Tuesday. Romney is chasing delegates in Nevada, whose caucuses are also Saturday, after saying he believes John McCain has South Carolina locked up. McCain held his lead in the new poll, with 29 percent, compared to 22 percent for Mike Huckabee. Ron Paul and Rudy Giuliani were tied at 5 percent, according to the poll. A Clemson University poll also gave McCain a 29 percent-22 percent edge over Huckabee, who won the leadoff caucuses in Iowa but hasn't finished better than third since. Thompson, the former US senator from Tennessee, plans to air a 60-second ad during today's evening news across South Carolina in which he talks up his conservative credentials in a folksy way designed to appeal to Southern voters. "I've been a conservative all my life," he says, then citing his "100 percent pro-life" record and asserting that Americans' fundamental rights come "from God, not government." McCain, meanwhile, picked up the endorsement today of the Charleston Post and Courier, which also endorsed him in 2000, when he lost to now-President Bush. The newspaper's editorial board said McCain's record in the eight years since only reinforced its belief that the Arizona senator is the best suited for the presidency.

And believe me... I am NOT happy about what it means and where things are going... I am just a realist and don’t even blink at the pandering, posturing, selfish politics that have come to define us.
We’re gonna get the exact government we deserve...
Riight. But if they'd endorsed your guy, you'd be all for them.
NRTL has been fighting this battle since 1973. I'd say they have a lot more credibility than others on this issue.
As I said may tomorrow bring you surprises.
P.S. truth is hard to find in Politics.
The tone and attitude is either that of a bitter individual or a bored $hit stirrer...
*snort*
Ever think you might be wrong. You seem to be stuck on the typical RAT talking points.
They have been making money since 1973... they haven’t stopped abortion. Why should they? It is profitable to have such a motivating issue.
Nope.
Just someone who is sorry to see so many good people duped... and is hopeful and looking forward to the coming day when they go “OH CRAP” and then optimistic that they “won’t get fooled again” and we can actually come together to nominate a true conservative in 2012.
Truth is easy to find. It is self evident.
Many are however, self deluded.
Since I know the wake up call is about to sound, I am saying so “first” so others when they do wake up will know I was right, wonder why and listen to what I then say about the next liar pretender.
You are right and EVERYONE ELSE (since you seem to have no candidate) is wrong. We are just babbling fools who just don’t understand Conservatism. Thank God you are here to save us.
I guess that does give you an excuse to toss invective and hyperbole like Moon Pies at Mardi Gras I guess...
Please log off and seek the support of friends or professionals, which ever you have access to, the bitterness will go away with effort...
FRed will place 4th in South Carolina.
Aren’t you in the tank for Romney??? If so, how do you call him conservative?
So you didn’t vote for Bush?

Gee... Methinks THOU protesteth too much !
LOL
Oh, you are in the tank for Romney?
Well how many babies did he and his wife help kill when they sent that 100 doller check to Planned Parenthood?
I am not with Romney.
Here... try this:
Romney IS Giuliani...he’s just Lying about it.
Just as Thompson IS McCain and He’s just lying about it.
And of course, Huckabee IS Jimmy Carter and he isn’t EVEN lying about it.
= )
I did not. I wasn’t OLD enough the first time... and I voted down ballot the second time.
