My Goddaughter needs your prayers and help

Caiti Brown is a delightful 17 year old girl who has been triumphantly walking with cancer for nearly 4 years. Diagnosed with osteosarcoma in 2004, she continues treatment for a relapse of disease to her lungs which occurred in the summer of 2006. Caiti Brown has had four major surgeries. Two of them were to repair and replace her damaged femur, knee, and a bit of her tibia. The other two were thoracic surgeries removing a lobe of her left lung and disease from her right lung. She has been disappointed by many strong and sound chemotherapy protocols. Her oncologist has and continues to seek every possible option. Unfortunately, Caiti Brown has been disappointed by a great number of conventional treatments.

In light of this, the family is taking a huge leap of faith and has made the monumental decision to take her to Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale, AZ. This facility will use the integrative method of natural therapies to super charge her immune system along with chemotherapy. These therapies and the cost to stay in Arizona are not covered by the family’s health insurance. Therefore the family will incur expenses exceeding $100,000.00. We are working toward a goal to raise as much of that as possible. Any donation that you can make would be met with great gratitude.

My Goddaughter, Caiti, has been battling this awful disease for 4 years and I cant tell you how brave and strong she has been. She continues to insist on living her life like a normal teenager even as the cancer confounds every effort to slow its progress.

Please , please help this wonderful little girl get the treatment she needs. The Envita Medical Center in Scottsdale is a long way from where Caiti lives and may be her best hope.

The specifics of this fundraising are likely to stop many people from donating. It’s not smart to send checks to unidentifiable P.O. boxes based on a story you read on the Internet. Since you’re a longtime FReeper, I assume this story is real, but if the family is serious about raising the money, they need to get a dedicated fund set up at a bank, and have donations sent there.

I will be praying for Caiti. Does she have a site on caringbridge.org? She can set up a site there and she or the family can journal daily and also meet new friends who have cancer as well. You can also get the word out about her situation. I check the progress of several of our kids and their families via caringbridge.org. One of our kids is at St. Jude’s in New York as I write.
