Commentators are citing the unpredictability of the Republican primary contests as proof that Reagan conservatism is dead when precisely the opposite conclusion is warranted.
The main reason the conventional wisdom is being shattered in the primaries is that conservative voters, so far, have not been persuaded there is an electable, reliable conservative in the race.
But as I've stated before, I believe Fred Thompson is a reliable, consistent conservative. There are others in the field I could support, but not without some reservations. The more I learn about Fred and observe him in action, the more convinced I become that he's the right choice. /snip

Its about time a Limbaugh endorsed FT.
Can Rush be far behind?
Rush has already endorsed him without endorsing him, though sometimes he makes it seem as though he has a hedge with Romney as well.
Maybe Rush, as he lets his audience read between his lines, might tomorrow enlarge his font a little?? Maybe underline??
After all, doesn’t Rush know that the people in Rio Linda love him too, and might need a little help?!
Yaelle, you beat me to the punch, I was just going to post this, thanks!
I appreciate the pings politicalmom. My days are busy and I don’t have as much time as I’d like to read things. Your pings are the first thing I look for.
No problem! I just got home and was surprised it wasn’t already up here. Bravo, David L!
SV, I’ve been saying for weeks, maybe he will hold his thunder until tomorrow, besides if he does it @ 2:50 pm just before the show ends, how are the others going to complain and to who?
My pleasure. :)
He should say it like this:
“Folks, my policy has been to never endorse a candidate during the primaries. But I will say that IF I were to endorse a candidate, it would be Fred Thompson. Now, this is not an endorsement, but if I were to give an endorsement of any candidate, that’s who it would be for.”
;-)
Yes, great column, and convincingly honest.
Don’t miss the last two or three paragraphs, especially.
He went a little further than that ... he asked all his listeners in South Carolina to vote for Fred Thompson!
