The SC numbers are a telephone survey. You are talking about the National numbers that are based on the ‘markets’

What you are reading is a blurb that Rasmussen puts on every poll he puts out. He is advertising a separate product in that blurb, his prediction market.

The item we are discussing is his South Carolina poll taken yesterday....

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of South Carolina’s Republican.

Rasmussen latest from a couple days ago:

Survey of 895 Likely GOP Voters
January 16, 2007

Election 2008: South Carolina GOP Primary

John McCain 24%

Mike Huckabee 24%

Mitt Romney 18%

Fred Thompson 16%

Ron Paul 5%

Rudy Giuliani 3%

The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of South Carolina’s Republican Presidential Primary shows that John McCain and Mike Huckabee are tied at 24%. In a race that has already seen four different candidates with the lead, much could still change in the coming days—7% of voters have yet to make up their mind, 10% say there’s a good chance they could change their mind, and another 24% might change their mind.

Mitt Romney attracts 18% support and Fred Thompson 16%. Those figures are little changed from the previous survey. Both Romney and Thompson have led in South Carolina at some point over the past several months. The latest survey was conducted the night after Mitt Romney’s victory in Michigan. Ron Paul attracts 5% support and Rudy Giuliani 3%. Giuliani is betting his entire campaign on a strong showing in Florida, where he is now tied for the lead with three others.

That site has a ton of info. Go to their home page and you can spend hours looking at info going back several elections.

“I am a HUGE fan of Fred, but who makes up your call list?? Is this just a list of known FredHeads or of registered Republicans??”

I worked as a caller for Bush in both general elections and I know that lists are taken from general voter lists, at least the first ones are. When it is the general you try to identify your voters and then call them back. I imagine that the lists used for Fred are lists of republican voters. Over the years it is pretty easy to get general lists.

I have to ask this? Since I have been on here you have done nothing but knock people. Are you positive in any way? Why don’t you promote the candidate you are for, instead of seeking to put others down?

The McCain List.

One of the less reliable pollsters, so for what it's worth...

They have a poll as well, to the best of my knowledge. But intrade looks even worse for Fred.
***That’s what I’ve been saying all along. Intraders look at the poll data and other factors, including Campaign Ability. The results show that Fred is a lousy campaigner. Soon I’ll get to say the same thing about tootyfruityrudy.
