Both Democrats and Republicans are good at practicing hypocrisy when they need to. But it's still breathtaking to see how some Democrats ignore that it was only last week they argued before the Supreme Court that an Indiana law requiring voters show ID at the polls would reduce voter turnout and disenfranchise minorities. Nevada allies of Hillary Clinton have just sued to shut down several caucus sites inside casinos along the Las Vegas Strip, potentially disenfranchising thousands of Hispanic or black shift workers who couldn't otherwise attend the 11:30 a.m. caucus this coming Saturday.
D. Taylor, the president of the Culinary Workers Union that represents many casino workers, notes that legal complaint was filed just two days after his union endorsed Barack Obama. He says the state teachers union, most of whose leadership backs Mrs. Clinton, realized that the Culinary union would be able to use the casino caucuses to better exercise its clout on behalf of Mr. Obama, and used a law firm with Clinton ties to file the suit.
Mr. Taylor exploded after Bill Clinton came out in favor of the lawsuit on Monday, and Hillary Clinton refused to take a stand. "This is the Clinton campaign," he said. "They tried to disenfranchise students in Iowa. Now they're trying to disenfranchise people here in Nevada." He later told the Journal's June Kronholz, "You'd think the Democratic Party elite would disavow this, but the silence has been deafening." (Late Tuesday the Democratic National Committee quietly filed a motion supporting the Nevada party's rules.)
However, the lawsuit has created an uproar among voters. It was the No. 1 issue among 30 Nevada Democrats participating in a Fox News focus group on Tuesday night; the anger among rank-and-file voters was palpable.

Voter fraud is a primary campaign strategy of the Democrats... plain and simple. When they say that IDs are “intimidating” this is nothing more than saying... “Not fair, we can’t cheat if you do that.”
I’d love to see proper ID to vote everywhere and I want all the rolls cleared of dead people and bad data.
Whenever I’ve moved, I’ve had to show ID to get a library card. What’s the big deal? The only opponents of IDs are those people wedded to voter fraud, namely the Dems.
I said really? I know the names and residences of at least thirty neighbors, may I come vote thirty more times with this process?
We need to stop the attempts to steal the vote with fraud, and no proper ID when voting is ripe territory to have fraud go wild in.
I am still waiting for evidence of one documented case where a properly-registered citizen who showed up at the correct polling place during the proper time-frame was denied the right to vote. I'd be curious to know what method these 17% of Americans believe is being used to disenfranchise "large numbers of legitimate voters." I'd bet that over 99% of this 17% are democrats.
Funny, it was the Clinton Machine thru local, county and state officials set this up. This set-up seemed fine to them until a week ago, when the Union did not give Hillary their endorsement. Only now are they crying fowl.
Not clear here. Does this mean the DNC is against the Culinary workers or in favor of their caucus?
This means DNC is FOR caucuses on the Vegas Strip (favoring the culinary union folks) (not surprising DNC would support a rule approved by Nevada dems including DNC members earlier this year)
Good point. Is there a single example of a republican voter complaining about the "unfairness" of voter ID?
“D. Taylor, the president of the Culinary Workers Union that represents many casino workers, says the state teachers union used a law firm with Clinton ties to file the suit.”
(just removed the extraneous info to concentrate on the meat of the matter)
including Hillary.
I say take the RAT’s brief for requiring ID’s in Nev and submit it as is as an amicus brief for the Indiana case. Excuse me, Mr. RAT, you dropped your petard. Here it is.
Yes, the same in Florida. Oh, you had to show that you had it but when I tried to hold it close enough so that the retiree working the poll could actually read it, they acted like I was holding out a snake or something. And it wasn't because turnout was heavy or anything. I guess the fact that you have to show something would hold down fraud but it would be an interesting experiment to hold out your spouse's id and see if they'd notice.
Excellent! I hope someone can take this and run with it!
The hypocrisy is just amazing.
Yes, voter fraud all the way.
Some poll workers kind of agreed when I said this could cause lots of fraud.
Some poll workers looked aggravated by what I said.
One could easily guess which were the conservatives and which were the liberals.
Democrats: "We oppose requiring people to have ID cards to vote."
Democrats: "We require people to have ID cards to vote."
It all depends on what they want at the moment.
