D.C. High School Track Star Disqualified Over Muslim Uniform (but they so special)

WASHINGTON — A high school track star has been disqualified from a meet because officials said the custom-made outfit she wears to conform to her Muslim faith violated competition rules.

Juashaunna Kelly, a senior at the District of Columbia's Theodore Roosevelt High School, has the fastest mile and two-mile times of any girls' runner in the city this winter. She was disqualified from Saturday's Montgomery Invitational indoor track and field meet.

Kelly was wearing the same uniform she has worn for the past three seasons while running for Theodore Roosevelt's cross-country and track teams. The custom-made, one-piece blue and orange unitard covers her head, arms, torso and legs. Over the unitard, she wears the same orange and blue T-shirt and shorts as her teammates.

The outfit allows her to compete while adhering to her Muslim faith, which forbids displaying any skin other than her face and hands.

try wearing a cross that's visible in a recreational soccer youth league. Not likely. Try wearing anything with a Christian symbol on a shirt in UIL track event...not gonna happen. Only school uniforms allowed.

Saw the picture of the girl.... I'm not worried that she'll "come to hate us". When her husband tells her to strap on the belt with C-4 and det cord to her kid...she'll do it and brag about it to all the other burkha babes at the mosque.

the unitard is form-fitting and leaves little to the imagination, though technically it covers the bare skin. is this conforming to the letter not spirit of the law, like eating lobster on Good Friday? the real unitards are the libs who will make a federal case for her but always against Christians and Jews. It wasn't the girl who was offended, it was the officials. If anything this uniform is a handicap, not an advantage. She would probably break all sorts of records if she ran in shorts. I haven't seen anyone disqualified for wearing a cross, but I was photographing a high school track and field event and the girl that won the 100 meters was disqualified because they found out she had one of those belly button diamonds. UIL in Texas requires no jewelry. Her top caught in the breeze while she was running and a judge saw it.

High school athletic officials are pretty strict. I've seen players sent off for having visible tattoos (they have to be covered). Some players use Ace bandages for that. Sounds like the girl had been competing like this for quite a while, and ran into one jerk at an event.

The worst part about it is this is going to be preached about in Mosques for years, "The Infidels tried to get one of our young women to take off her clothes before competing in an athletic event!"

I have as much problem with Radical Islam as anyone, but when someone tries to mainstream while staying true to their faith, you'd think we could at least be reasonable. Since when did being modest become a problem?

I am not a “little missy”, so you can save the condescending attitude for the lucky women in your life. I work for the city FD and we pray all the time. We pray together. We talk about God and religion too. All without a problem.

By law students can group pray but law has also given schools the right to forbid congregations of students thus pretty much eliminating group prayer all in fear that they will be sued for so-called endorsing a specific religion. Schools have withheld diplomas for Valedictorians mentioning Jesus Christ and they have disband football teams for having a “team prayer” over a severely injured player. Another way public schools have silenced Christians is by not allowing the mention of creation in class while hammering Darwinism Theory as complete fact of all life.

Funny thing is that I've "worked" with muzzies also. Darul Islam provided me with some really neat lessons of the Religion of Peace. ... I'm sorry, I didn't actually work "with" them.
