occulted by a scholar I don't think I've seen it used as a verb before. But it seems to be an oddly appropriate word choice.

I read the article in the WSJ about this subject. It didn’t contend that the Koran is a hoax. It talked about the efforts to apply the same textual criticism to the Koran that was applied to the Bible. Apparently the loss of these films for sixty years made this analysis impossible. Now that they have resurfaced it may become possible again to critically look at the Koran and trace it’s development. Of course it would require courageous researchers to do this.

If true, absolutely no good can come from this. Staunch believers will not back away from their beliefs, they will only become enraged. This has the potential to destabalize the world if not treated with extreme caution.
Furthermore, it will further encourage mockery of religion of all stripes in the West.

""Christoph Luxenburg", who sought to prove that incomprehensible passages in the Koran were written in Syriac-Aramaic rather than Arabic. Luxenburg's thesis became notorious for explaining that the "virgins" provided to Islamic jihadis in paradise were only raisins."
Bummer.

The Da Vinci Code offered a silly fantasy in which Opus Dei, homicidal monks and twisted billionaires chased after proof that Christianity is a hoax. - while I think that Da Vinci Code was only entertainment, this was not the premise of the book.

The Koran is as useful as toilet paper! It is a book written by men to suit their selfish and perverted agenda to control weak mindless humans who can’t decipher our Creator’s intrinsic truth. That is to live life in a positive way by understanding all humans are imperfect and therefore strive to be the best we can. That means forgiveness is divine!
