Since "unrestricted' private ownership of guns clearly threatens the public safety, the 2nd Amendment can be interpreted to allow a variety of gun restrictions, according to the Bush administration.
The argument was delivered by U.S. Solicitor General Paul D. Clement in a brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in the ongoing arguments over the legality of a District of Columbia ban on handguns in homes, according to a report from the Los Angeles Times.
Clement suggested that gun rights are limited and subject to "reasonable regulation" and said all federal limits on guns should be upheld.

How about reading the freakin’ brief yourself? Like good liberals, FReepers will swallow anything the LAT, NYT, AJC or any other liberal rag says if it fits their established prejudices and irrational fears.
now by storage unit, i’m not talking about a 10-12 gun safe, i’m talking about one of those uhaul type mini storage units that’s about the size of a 2-car garage.
and if you 2 of those full.. you’re only in trouble for neglect. i mean really, how do you get time to show them all the proper shooting love they deserve? :)
You forgot a syllable... it's Rudy McRomnabee.
Just what's needed for some good, clean, family fun!
(I think I've finally gotten my brother interested in shooting. I'm stoked.)
I think we’re on the same page.
If this is how Bush truly feels about the 2nd amendment then my level of respect for him has sunk to below that of Jimmy Carter.
Bush: handing over Israel to Al Queda, and handing over America to Socialists.
And so we can easily transpose the case for the Amendment that isn’t there
abortion rights are limited and subject to “reasonable regulation”
And why does gun rights scare the public, or does it really scare the would be tyrants at the LA Times?
hey, my limits come in the forms of: how you gonna shoot it?
if you have two storage units, how are you gonna show all your guns the proper shooting love that they deserve?
if its too big for an f350, how are you going to transport enough ammo to feed it? altho i guess this wouldn’t be too big of a deal if you owned your own transport buisness :)
if yer mag is so big that you need mechanical assistance to lift it.. imagine how long its gonna take you to reload that thing? you’re talking like a 500 round mag or more.
and like i said, not laws, just guidelines :)
“When you need to hide your face to enforce a law in this country, the law must be wrong.”
Yea, good point! Why do they need to hide their face? And it’s not like their undercover.
Actually, from looking at Huck’s record, he’s done a fairly good job re: RKBA. He’s just a flaming liberal in a whole host of other areas.
...which is precisely the reason for the Second Amendment - so if everything goes to hell, the private citizen can protect him/herself and family from a government amok.

To paraphrase the DOJs brief:
Dear Supreme Court: On behalf of DC wed like to say that DCs argument is absurd and easily refuted for these reasons, but if you agree with us then youll also toss another ban we really like but cant justify, so please just bury the case. Thank you.
Damn an Doom on Bush and his administration ....when they say such they reveal themselves to be no better than the seditious socialist trash democrat gun grabbers......
This cow crap brief is code to the USSC to uphold the DC ban and open the door for more BS chickensh*t laws that DO NOTHING TO STOP CRIME !
Armed CITIZENS just as armed police STOP crime !
Grrrrr......
Per Lt Col Dave Grossman, “just call me a sheepdog.”

I think its just people who are scared to death of guns and don't have the honesty to publicly admit that fear. So instead, they use the age old excuse "guns kill people".
My whole family is conservative, all my friends are conservative and nobody except my sister are concerned about guns. My sister believes that if guns are banned then murders will drop....you know the story. What my sister will not admit is the fact she is scared to death of guns. When I showed my family my new KAHR MK9 after I purchased it, she would not even touch it..........
Its the fear factor.
Check my tagline.....
