GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba - The chief of the U.S. military said Sunday he favors closing the prison here as soon as possible because he believes negative publicity worldwide about treatment of terrorist suspects has been "pretty damaging" to the image of the United States.

"I'd like to see it shut down," Adm. Mike Mullen said in an interview with three reporters who toured the detention center with him on his first visit since becoming chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff last October.

Speaking of Fred Thompson...

I have learned from Willard Romney that finishing second is a Silver medal and third a Bronze...

Has anyone asked Fred Thompson about his medals?

By my reckoning he has a Tin medal and a couple of Lead ones. Does that sound about right?

What has Mullen done that caused the release of the jihadists?

I don’t either...but I DO know that he needs to be fired ASAP!

He is an embarrassment to this administration!

Let him get a job with the libs he sounds like if he thinks
he can!

Hope they never get that much power, though! EGAD!

This Joint Chief chairman must be smoking too many joints.

Someone should clue him in that once the Gitmo terrorists are dumped into our court system, these perps will have more civil rights and legal protections afforded them than American citizens enjoy today.....not to mention a free defense thanks to the poor schmuck American taxpayer.

Ya know, I honestly think that something
biochemical is having a major societal
impact in this country.

I know it’s documented that chemicals in
water, pesticides, other chemicals to which
we’re exposed, etc. act as xeno hormones
(mostly estrogenic in nature) in the body.
And they cause definite systemic bodily
changes, such as kidsn reaching puberty
so much earlier than typical, say in
the 60’s and 70’s, breast cancer in much
younger gals than when we were growing
up, and more infertility in males.

I’m starting to believe that testosterone
deprivation and estrogenic influence are
afflicting a whole bunch of men of a certain
age.

And to those afflicted in our government
who’ve become weak, lily-livered and spine-
less .. I wish they would just SHUT UP
and go home to sit in their rockers.

And then there’s Hillary.

Give the prisoners a trial and execute them or let them go.

This indefinite holding without due process is a repugnant reminder of how the British Empire behaved; resulting in a little tea party and revolution in 1776.

We were supposed to be different.

LOL! I think that they are purely and simply are “weak, lily-livered and spine-
less”....and it’s caused by people like Hitlery instead of the environment!...possibly their parents were LIB nutjobs who hated men!

This on top of Hesham Islam’s and Gordon England’s firing of Stephen Coughlin! Why don’t we just fly the surrender flag instead of the Stars and Stripes?

Hey Mr. President, I don’t give a rat’s arse what the world thinks about us putting "Out of Uniform Barbarians" into Gitmo.

President Bush, I have lost all confidence in you. Shame on you and your pathetic appointments. Where are men with spines of steel when you need them? Disgusting!

Does anyone have a list of the “Out of Uniform Barbarians” that we have released from Gitmo who have gone back to the battlefield? I know there are a few.

I say we should return them to the point of capture.

Of course, those areas are quite hazardous and we wouldn't want any of our brave troops harmed in any way.

Therefore, giving them the boot from 30,000 to 35,000 feet as they pass over that capture point should provide the safety our people need while insuring a speedy return to the terrorists home er... ground.

Its more election year caving from Washington like the National Intelligence Estimate and I don’t think the White House is in the dark about it all.

Add this up to the National Intelligence Estimate and the peace process being pursued in the Middle East and don’t you understand that administration policy has changed.

Tony Snow resigned some months back.

I think we understand why now.
