GUANTANAMO BAY NAVAL BASE, Cuba - The chief of the U.S. military said Sunday he favors closing the prison here as soon as possible because he believes negative publicity worldwide about treatment of terrorist suspects has been "pretty damaging" to the image of the United States.
"I'd like to see it shut down," Adm. Mike Mullen said in an interview with three reporters who toured the detention center with him on his first visit since becoming chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff last October.

So basically you are saying that you are not going to answer my question (probably because you don’t know how). And in response you respond with an ad hominem claiming that I was somehow bashing our troops (and your logic behind that must truly be bizarre). Pat yourself on the back for successfully demonizing me instead of honestly trying to respond to my question.

Perhaps so. Have any Cuban lawyers tried to access the
base?
Fact remains that its not US soil.

Yep. I’m truly bizarre!
I want the terrorists to remain confined at Guantanomo.
They can move in next to you since you are such a caring individual. Break out the prayer rugs and hummus. You’re welcome to it.

Not necessarily!
What if we pack all those sand lizards on a glider and haul their @sses out over the Atlantic and suddenly the tether rope becomes disengaged....problem solved!!!

Asked why he thinks Guantanamo Bay, commonly dubbed Gitmo, should be closed, and the prisoners perhaps moved to U.S. soil, Mullen said, "More than anything else it's been the image how Gitmo has become around the world, in terms of representing the United States."
With all due respect, our "image" abroad doesn't, to me, seem to be a strong reason to make a major decision like this. We spend so much time trying to pacify and placate the rest of the world while our enemies continually thumb their noses at it. In a time of war, I think this puts us at a great disadvantage.

You, too disgust me, with your silly little slap-attempt. I DID serve and protect you....it took over a hundred posts for a foolish jerkoff like yourself to pound your keyboard over a joke - you’ve obviously never “served”, other than maybe as a Bremelo...

It’s truly breathtaking. He needs
someone to censure him .. unless
Sec. Gates agrees and put him up
to it.
Since when does the JCS’s job
description include publicly
commenting on global politics
and our “image.”
If he/they believes these savage
beasts can be safely imprisoned
here, I don’t know what to
think.
I swear, sometimes I don’t know
what country I’m in anymore.

"maybe converted a large transport ship into a prison ship and kept it stationed off Diego Garcia or some other obscure place inacessible to leftist lawyers. "This is what should be done now. Close Gitmo Prison, dock a troop carrier and load up the prisoners and depart for parts unknown and UNDISCLOSED. No more problem.

Did anyone wake up Fred Thompson, to update his talking points? With the population of those terrorists having been sorted out, it is time to transition. That is apparently what America's leading minds are suggesting.
Good conservatives lead with creative force within the Constitution. People with a reactionary mentality... react to them in much the same way they react to liberals and others.
