"A third of my generation is dead because of politicians like Giuliani." -- Steven Pokorny, age 28, at Giuliani during meeting in Miami, Sunday, Jan. 13
MIAMI, Jan. 13 /Christian Newswire/ -- Rudy Giuliani was rattled by pro-life advocates and canceled his speech at his first bus-tour event Sunday in Miami. Activists have planned confrontations with Rudy for every stop of his Florida bus tour. Photos available online.
On Sunday, Jan. 13, at approximately 12:15 PM, pro-life activists were in the crowd at The Green Street Cafe (located at 3110 Commodor Plaza, Coconut Grove Florida, just outside Miami) waiting for Giuliani to begin his Florida Bus Tour.
When Rudy Giuliani arrived, Joseph Landry (age 26) was within 5 feet of the candidate, and began yelling: You are a baby killer! You are a baby killer! Florida is pro-life! Rudy wants public funding for abortion!" See news report. Law enforcement officials immediately escorted Mr. Landry from the area, while Mr. Landry continued his monologue.
Within Minutes, Steven Pokorny, age 28, stood to his feet and cried out, "A third of my generation is dead because of politicians like Giuliani! Giuliani wants to kill children and have you pay for it!" Law enforcement did not stop Mr. Pokorny.
At that point, Giuliani left the building, without addressing the crowd.
Mr. Pokorny was able to follow Mr. Giuliani for more than a minute, yelling out about Rudy's pro-choice, pro-homosexual agenda. Again, Mr. Pokorny was not interrupted by police.
Giuliani officials had no idea how many pro-lifers were in the crowd, and how many more times Giuliani would be confronted. This might explain why Mr. Giuliani did not make any remarks - and left the meeting without addressing supporters.
Pro-lifers have scheduled confrontations with Rudy on every stop of his Florida Bus tour.
Video footage of the confrontations with Rudy is available upon request.
Total BS. Do some homework (start here.)
The Mitfords and others who admired Hitler were not evil, nor were the politicians who supported appeasement. But they allowed the evil to grow and grow and grow.
Mine, Jim Robinson’s and all who understand the concept. He is a corrupt liberal. Are you supporting him?
Thank you for proving my point perfectly.
I am asking those who support these protests to explain what they think they gain for the cause of life by acting this way. I am askign them to tell me why THEY think it is beneficial or helpful or edifying to conduct themselves this way in the political process.
All that I am getting in return is that such protests are "allowed," etc. By the way, I was referring to the teaching by St. Paul. He pointed out that lots of stuff is allowed, but that doesn't mean it should be done.
See, the Constitution makes a bit of a distinction between rallying and promoting one’s views and these “raids” Code Pink, the Phelps, and certain people I agree with on abortion like to do:
The 1st amendment says:
” Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.”
The functional word here is “peaceable.” I don’t think that word can reasonably be used to describe what was done to Rooty Tootie. He’s dead wrong on abortion, but we who disagree with him have no right to shout him down and shut him out.
How is supporting LIFE different? It is as basic as it gets. No life = no rights.
Rudy is a RINO.
Thank you for just posting a link to the graphic and not the graphic itself. I’m sure there’s more like me who don’t need a graphic to be horrified by abortion however it’s done. It certainly doesn’t have to *look* gruesome to know that the act of killing a baby is absolutely horrendous. I don’t see how anyone could support it in any fashion.
But for those who need to be shocked into reality, it’s good that there *are* realistic graphics of what actually does happen to the child.
My response to the article was to make a $99 donation to Rudy Giuliani, and submitted with the following message to his website:
“While Rudy is my second choice behind Fred Thompson, to whom I gave $100, I was annoyed by an article posted on Free Republic talking about how “Pro-Life” protesters disrupted a campaign event in Florida. In response to this fascistic assault on free speech I decided to donate $99 to Rudy.”
It does kinda have the feel of kicking a guy when he’s down. :p lol
I am asking those who support these protests to explain what they think they gain for the cause of life by acting this way...
Exposing the truth
Frightening off Guliani and his ilk
Two good gains, imho.
In your opinion, does the first amendment protect the Phelps family when they go protest military funerals?
Yes actually it does...Theres already been a decision on their case in court..They cannot go onto private property but they can scream as loud as they want to...and say whatever they want ...
You and I may not like it...but they have that right...
You’re right. Rudy is no RINO. He’s a bonafide gun grabbing, gay agenda advancing, cross-dressing abortion pushing, sanctuary city running, draft-dodging, corrupt, two faced, two bit liberal dog politician.
What a load of hooey. Show me one poster who has stated or implied that “protesting a politician should be prohibited.”
All I said was that this particular form of protest was counter-productive under all the circumstances.
Stop setting up straw man arguments and deal with the real objections to these protests. If you don’t agree with those who find them unhelpful, fine. But don’t claim they want them “prohibited.”
I agree that if a Hitler takes over America, that more drastic ways of doing things would be allowed.
In the real world of America today, however, I do not support that. In fact, stifling speech is how totalitarianism takes over.
Ah, those were the days! LOL
“A fool and his money....”
Would you send Planned Parenthood money too?
“All I said was that this particular form of protest was counter-productive under all the circumstances.”
And you are WRONG. But you knew that, right?
I’m probably older than you, and you ought to know what while the Republican Party is divided on the issue, the pro-life faction has considerable influence. It has almost none in the Democratic Party. Case in point: Casey vs Santorum. Now that he is elected, young Casey marches in step with the rest.
Peaceful protest does not limit one to being mute or speaking softly.
Unless criminal behavior occurs, the Supreme Court has ruled that protests are covered under the Bill of Rights. Protesters may have to file a fee to gather in groups, but show me where SCOTUS has determined that gatherings cannot occur unless people are quiet.
