Third poll is ...

Detroit News Michigan GOP Primary

The poll of 604 likely GOP primary voters, conducted Wednesday through Saturday, suggests Tuesday’s result likely will depend on who treks to the poll. The error margin is four percentage points. Numbers in parentheses from December 18th Detroit News poll. Just over half of likely voters in that race say they are very certain of their vote; the other 45 percent are undecided or could change their preference.

Romney MI primary poll PING.

Comment on race 42008 that makes sense - Romney’s optimism beats McCain’s pessimism:

“I was in the UAW union for years, then managed in an industrial company for years after that. And McCain is really messing up when he keeps saying that “There are jobs that have left that will never come back.” Mitt is telling them that he will fight to not lose more and explaining how he can help that situation with a more level playing field in our trade agreements, etc. Also, that he will fight to get them back. Even if McCain believes what he’s saying he’s stupid for campaigning that way cause it won’t fly with union workers in Michigan….they’ll be looking for a savior. They don’t want to leave their families and go back to college….it won’t fly I”m telling you. Mitt will win Michigan.”

Huckabee is quite likely to take first. I don’t think they’re polling Democrats and they’ve no one but Hillary on their ballot.

I dont know, but remember it’s not that the Dems dont have a primary, they dont have all the names on the ballot.
I’ve heard some Dems will show up and vote ‘undecided’ to not give it to Hillary.

You do realize that this state like Florida, has beendisenfranchised by the DLC so the Dims have switched party and are skewing the polls and the primary, don’t you?

"Romney’s optimism beats McCain’s pessimism:"

Most agreed. Optimism is one of Mitt's greatest strengths and so Reaganesque.

Well, it will be a dogfight between them supporting the RINO Rudy the RINO McCain or the RINO Huckabee, wont it?

The idea that our GOP nominee could be selected by disgruntled Democrats is a bit bizarre ... but maybe that will give some slight advantage in November.

What, you cant add and figure how much below 100% it is?!?

Another poll shows it even, but shows the momentum in Romney’s favor. If Romney went from 17 in 1st half to 21 in full sample, then he was at 25 in the second half of the sample.

I wouldn’t be going out on a large limb to say that averaging the polls and looking at the momentum, it will be a Romney win by a few points in MI over McCain.

This will be good news for Romney of course, but also for Thompson, as the Huckafade continues and he’s got a shot at taking the #2 and even #1 slot in SC. It means that not only did Romney keep McCain to below his NH numbers, he’s very likely to keep McCain to well below his 2000 MI numbers against GWB. McCain is deservedly NOT LIKED by many in the base, yet the MSM writes that off.

Poll Watch: Mitchell Research GOP MI Primary

The poll from Mitchell Research originally reported here had McCain beating Romney 23-17. It turns out that was only the first half of a four-day sample they were taking, and theyÂ’ve released the entire poll now with some interesting results:

Mitchell Research Michigan Republican Primary

* McCain - 22%
* Romney - 21%
* Huckabee - 12%
* Paul - 7%
* Giuliani - 7%
* Thompson - 3%

Poll was conducted Jan 9-12.

A five point swing in Romney’s favor — and that includes the previous two day sample (1/9-1/10) showing McCain with a six point lead! That means Romney clearly has the momentum in Michigan right now.

Great news is one wants to step up the Republican party for one of the most humiliating defeats since FDR was winning landslides decades ago. The latest CNN poll has Willard 18% points behind Hillary and 22% behind Obama. He trails Obama according to Real Clear Politics’ AVERAGE of four recent polls by 16%.

Yo' geniuses, Michigan's primary has not played in a national election in our lifetimes, but it will Tuesday. It will derail McCain and Huckabee, if what I saw today at the "Defending The American Dream Conference" has any truth. Saw Romney, Hunter, and McCain only 40 feet away from me stating their sense on economic issues, was not a campaign forum.

It's a different game now, take it serious. McCain creamed himself. Huckabee sent a bus of plants to disrupt the anti-tax event, and Romney waltzed away with the charisma.

Reagan was further behind Carter in Feb 1980. Early polls mean cr*p, or Rudy would have had it wrapped up right about now.

WHY THIS IS GOOD NEWS FOR CONSERVATIVES - IT STOPS THE NATION’S #1 RINO:

[From Mark Levin]
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1952876/posts

The McCain domestic record is a disaster. To say he fought spending, most particularly earmarks, is to nibble around the edges and miss the heart of the matter. For starters, consider:

- McCain-Feingold — the most brazen frontal assault on political speech since Buckley v. Valeo.

- McCain-Kennedy — the most far-reaching amnesty program in American history.

- McCain-Lieberman — the most onerous and intrusive attack on American industry — through reporting, regulating, and taxing authority of greenhouse gases — in American history.

- McCain-Kennedy-Edwards — the biggest boon to the trial bar since the tobacco settlement, under the rubric of a patients’ bill of rights.

- McCain-Reimportantion of Drugs — a significant blow to pharmaceutical research and development, not to mention consumer safety (hey Rudy, pay attention, see link)....
