NASHUA A top Clinton adviser faces charges of aggravated driving while intoxicated after city police caught him speeding through Greeley Park a day before the state primary.
Sidney Blumenthal, longtime friend and senior adviser to presidential candidate Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y. was allegedly driving a rented car north on Concord Street at a speed of 70 mph when Nashua Police Sgt. Mike Masella decided to stop it at about 12:30 a.m. Monday.
-snip-
Blumenthal was arrested after completing the test and taken to the police department where he refused to take a breath test and was booked on a charge of aggravated driving while intoxicated, Masella said.

He is as close, if not closer, to Hillary Clinton than her husband. That describes just about everyone.

It’s been around a while. I figger it’s ‘cuz Blumenthal’s such a bottom feeder, though I’m not entirely certain of the etymology. Sure fits him, though, don’t it?

I have read that 2/3s of those arrested for DUI are alcoholics. As a recovering alcoholic myself, I do not have the luxury of hating anyone and I hope Sid gets help.
I appreciate your position. I hope he gets help as well.
As part of that help I hope that he realizes that he must become ethical.

When you’re around these politicians all the time, it’s no big deal. The only one who I really enjoyed seeing and protecting was Reagan. The Bushes, especially 41, are decent and authentic men.
These guys are a dime a dozen at primary time. The news coverage makes them seem larger than life, but up close, they’re not much different than the small-time politician running for city council. It sounds like politics in New Hampshire is refreshingly different than politics in many other venues in these United States. That's certainly a credit to the Granite State.
However, it seems to me that most campaigns would have tried to get ahead of this news and made a preemptive announcement. What if this news had hit on Monday afternoon without some sort of front-running? It would seem to me that the Clinton campaign took a risk than most campaigns would not have taken.
Even in less visible activities than this Clinton campaign, I have seen people work hard to get bad news out as quickly as possible rather than try to sit on it.

And, thanks to the internet, it's much more difficult for the MSM to consign stories to the memory hole :)

Couldn't have happened to a better guy.
No-no, I mean it.
One doesn't get the name, "Sid Vicious", for nothing.
...it had to be earned.

And note the NYT blog says "...was arrested for drunk driving in New Hampshire
the night before the primary."
Except this isn't quite true: he was arrested 12:30 a.m. Monday morning, well over 24 hours BEFORE polls opened; more than enough time for the story to have got out.

Your post is the sanest on this thread, don-o. God bless ya.

My friend? Let’s not give people the wrong impression here.
I have to confess to schadenfreude on hearing this news. Mr. Vicious has gotten away with more serious criminal stuff in the past, so perhaps it’s about time that he might be receiving at least a small measure of punishment.
