Boston, MA – Today, Governor Mitt Romney announced that National Call Day 2008 has raised an estimated $5 million. About 500 Romney volunteer fundraisers from across the country joined Governor Romney in Boston today to call donors nationwide to raise both primary and general election dollars. Today marks the first Romney for President finance event in which general election dollars were raised. The success of today's event will help Governor Romney continue to compete nationwide and help communicate his message of bringing conservative change in Washington.

Governor Mitt Romney said, "National Call Day 2008 has been an extraordinary success. I am grateful to all of the fundraisers and donors who have helped us raise the resources we need to continue to be competitive in all 50 states. Washington is broken, and we all know that it will take someone from outside of Washington to bring conservative change to our nation's capital. Today's success shows the continued belief that I have the vision, values and experience to bring that change.

"This is going to be a long race, but we have some great momentum, and will carry that momentum into Michigan. The success of today's events shows a continued belief that I am the only Republican candidate who can match up against the Democrats in the fall. My campaign is about the future of our country, and I will be ready to go toe-to-toe with the Democrats in the general election."

That’s Tom Monaghan...he’s an uber Catholic. Extremely conservative. That’s a good endorsement for Romney.

The more McCain talks, the more depressed I get. The climate change thing today was just the latest. Then this story today: “Huckabee hangs hopes on S.C. Christians”. How about hanging hopes on something like a conservative record?

I just heard Rick Santorum say that Messrs. Romney and Thompson are the most CONSERVATIVE in the race. I see it the same way.

If Fred drops out; I will switch to Romney (he is, after his “evolution,” still more conservative than McCain or Huckabee; folks have to remember that Reagan himself was once pro-choice).

If McCain wins the nomination; I will hold my nose and vote for him. If Huckabee should win the nomination, I’m writing in my 9 week old lab puppy, “McLovin.”

Frankly, if Hillary gets the nomination (which i expect to happen), and if it is a brokered GOP convention; then I hope that we draft C. Powell and blow Hillary out of the water.

Mr. Romney keeps getting endorsement after endorsement after endorsement (and ones that matter).

Sorry. That’s an appeal to authority. I can think for myself very much, thank you. I live in Massachusetts and have followed Mitt for near twenty years. I know him, politically, like my own heartbeat.

He’s a liberal, nanny state elitist, that has little conservativeism in him. Matter of fact, I have never, ever heard him mention Locke, Burke, Montesquieu, Hyack or any classic philosopher.( I don't think he is well read, nor formally educated about political economy, at all ) In short, if he were to be a conservative, he wouldn't know why.

I suspect most people take his constant traditionalism as conservativeness. They are in a common error.

I am not Mormon-bashing. I am speaking about something which was important to Orrin Hatch when he ran and may well be important to Mitt Romney.

Then the National Review Magazine, William F. Buckley, Robert Bork, James Bopp, the head of the American Conservative Union, most of Conservative talk radio and many more high profile Conservatives are wrong. What are you’re credentials? And let me be clear: I do not claim that Romney is the perfect Conservative (nor does he), only that he is more Conservative than the alternatives of John McCain and Mike Huckabee.

Thompson would be nice. Hunter would be nice. But their chances of winning are fading fast and they may well be done by the end of the month. So, who are you going to trust then? McCain? Huckabee? Or Romney? Most of Conservative talk radio of late is saying Romney. Rush went so far as to speculate that there was a deal between McCain and Huckabee to bring Romney down. But, make up your own mind. Check him out for yourself at MittRomney.com or www.mittreport.com.

WOW, that kind of puts Freds hope to get $500,000 in a week to shame. Mitts Porsche vs Freds Little Red Truck, which one will win the race?

That is very impressive though, good for Mitt.

You’re correct.
