Teacher Accused Of Sex With Teen (homosexual arrested on 2 counts)

PALM COAST, Fla. -- A Flagler Palm Coast High School teacher was arrested Monday night on suspicion of sexual conduct with a 16-year-old boy.

Antonio Izquierdo, 38, of 40 LaMancha Drive, in Palm Coast, was charged with two counts of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.

Izquierdo teaches math and fashion merchandising classes at Flagler Palm Coast High School, where he has been employed for 1½ years. The alleged victim is a student at Flagler Palm Coast High School, officials told Local 6 News.

Flagler County sheriff's detectives said sexual conduct occurred Dec. 19 and Dec. 20. One incident occurred after school hours on the school campus where Izquierdo teaches, and the other incident took place when he was driving the victim home, deputies said.

The Flagler County Sheriff's Office said it launched an investigation after the alleged victim came forward during the holiday school break to report Izquierdo's alleged behavior. Flagler County school classes resumed Monday, but Izquierdo was out sick, according to a sheriff's report. Flagler County School Superintendent Bill Delbrugge said Izquierdo has been suspended, pending the outcome of the investigation.

"This is an unfortunate occurrence. However, our community should know that this school district conducts an extensive background investigation on every faculty member before anyone is placed into a classroom. In this instance, there were no indications of any problems with this teacher," Delbrugge said. The investigation is ongoing.

"We are asking anyone who feels they may have been victimized by inappropriate actions by Izquierdo to please come forward by contacting our Criminal Investigations Division. This man was placed in a position of trust and he violated that trust," Flagler County Sheriff Donald W. Fleming said.

Sadly, sex predators exist at private and charter schools too. You will find them wherever you find their potential victims. Most, like this perv, have no criminal record. Thank God the boy had the guts to turn him in. I am sure it was not easy for him.

Upon reflection, I see the ugly truth of what you say. I had been focused upon the public "schools'" aggressive and enthusiastic hiring of homosexuals and considered that to be the greatest threat, but after considering your words I'm thinking that it's possible that the opposite may in fact be the greater potential for trouble.

Although homosexuals and other perverts have had the Official welcome mat rolled out for them at public schools, parents are educated and extremely wary of this. Such a stealth pervert will likely be under a far greater shadow of parental distrust .in the public school setting, whereas private and charter school parents may be more likely to be laboring under the false impression that teachers at their schools have been more aggressively vetted and are 'safe'. A stealth pervert who gets into such an environment will likely have more opportunities to get 'closer' to victims, as the parental guards may be more relaxed or perhaps even absent.

Government schools are now, always were, and always will be an offensive against freedom of conscience.

There is a teacher/student case from PA that has been posted and updated over the last few days here. In that case the teacher is a female (26) the student is a male (14). The majority opinion has pretty much been "atta boy!" and "where were these kind of teachers when I was a kid?" and "she's not bad looking, NOT GUILTY" If I were to ping some of those posters, I wonder if they'd have the same type of reactions.

You must understand... the jasoncann naughtteacher ping list is a lot about sarcasm... I think the orgins of the "guilty" / "not guilty" verdicts stem from the Debra LaFave story... One of the biggest issues most people have on freerepublic, is they can't tell when someone turns on or off the sarcasm button...

If I were to ping some of those posters, I wonder if they'd have the same type of reactions. Of course not. Hey metmom... I totally agree, except when the hypocrite is trying to be funny... The teacher posts (especially the female teachers) tend bring out the incredulous poster and the satirical poster... Sometimes, the line between the two is not easily discernible...

All people are doing is using humor/parody to show a definite double standard in society. For some reason lots of these stories are posted on FR, and you have to admit the men are nearly always handed stiff sentences and the women get off light, often with probation. And, incredibly, the better looking the woman generally the lighter the sentence.

I'm not defending it, but it is an interesting pattern to watch.

I think that this is pretty much standard practice....they have to do it with pay because he's not convicted, only arrested.

Hopefully he will be convicted and sent to prison very soon for a very, very long time.

I hear that "prison culture" doesn't exactly take kindly to rapists in general and child rapists in particular. Homosexual child rapists may be even more hated; I don't know about that.

Perhaps he won't survive the prison experience and won't have an opportunity to spend his salary? We can only hope.

Hey, I love satire myself but this sort of situation is just not appropriate subject material for it. A teacher engaging in an immoral, sexual relationship with a student, no matter what the mix, reprehensible. It’s morally wrong either way and I just don’t see that it’s any joking matter.

I couldn't agree more... Now how do we fix the problem that exists in public education??? We must continue to expose the trash teachers, et al... (sorry about the pun...)
