I can help you with that.
It’s still early, and Fred is NOT fading into the dirt!
It’s better to go with your instincts instead of the flow.
How wrong you are, even though you might wish it so.
Sure, if you want Captain Ahab running the country.
"How wrong you are, even though you might wish it so."

You really haven't a clue.
I'm a Thompson supporter. The "last legs" of which I speak are Fred's in South Carolina. If he can't make a solid showing there, even I must concede he will be done.
In which case, one of McCain, Huckster, Romney, and Guiliani will be the GOP nominee.
At which point, the election will be a Dem leftist versus a GOP leftist (though I hold out SOME hope for Guiliani).
Tell me exactly how I'm wrong again?
Hank
As a Fred guy, the only other candidate who strikes me as having even a whiff of conservative authenticity is Rudy. I can have just a bit of hope if he’s the nominee.
Romney strikes me as an empty suit. At best he’s a technocrat. At worst he’s a complete phony.
Hank
Leadership for America?
Or Mazatlan?
McCain....how depressing.
Hank
SO WHAT? I’ve been saying for years, I’ll never vote for him, and I won’t. Here’s a list of people, if nominated, about whom, I will just as soon stay home.
If I have to put with liberals or wierdos in office, I would just rather rail about the G..Dam# Democrat.
I will not vote for:
McCain
Giuliani
Huckabee
Keyes
Paul
Save the world for my daughter? The dummy (Though I love her) will probably vote for Hillary, because her friends will.
I will gladly go to the polls for either Thompson or Hunter. Somwhow I will find find some unenthusiastic time for Rommney.
That CAN'T be the rationale behind Fred's poor showing, can it?
After all, Fred is alive. He is a candidate seeking votes.
His name was on the ballot. He wants to win, does he not?
Are Fred supporters so simple that they just said, 'Oh, Fred doesn't want or need our votes today because .... because he doesn't really expect them.'
Under your scenario, Fred, if the Republican nominee, might as well not even campaign in Northeastern states or Northern states because "they don't seem to like southerners much."
Don't get me wrong. I love Fred Thompson.
He just seems unable to generate the necessary excitement to drive the GOP to victory this election.
Better to have an enthusiastic candidate like Romney, whose wholesome gung ho attitude will go a long way toward attracting the support needed to win.
So you would rather be a miserable, sour S*B than vote for someone who doesn’t meet your one issue litmus test, but is the best for our County of the available choices? PATHETIC!
We're doomed........
I’m “a member of the US armed forces” and I’m tired of the attitude on this site. Democracy may be “the worst form of government ever invented, except for all the others”, but put up your head and do your best with what is available!
Your welcome. You are a great American!
So glad that flip-flopper Romney did not win.
Congratulations John McCain (on his victory in N.H.)!
Now, as a Romney supporter my take on it is, actually Ive very pleased with Romneys showing in N.H. with a very strong second place showing. I think Romney is going to pick up some momentum, after all I figured McCain would take N.H. as he is a very popular candidate in that state and I am glad that he will have a celebration night cap.
I am also glad for Hillary Clinton on the Democratic side with her win in N.H., because though I support any Republican over the Democrat field, I surely would rather see Hillary Clinton than a Obama whom I simply feel would be the worst case disaster for our country at all levels, and he is a big phony besides though not saying much for the other Democrats.
And besides I think a Republican would have a good chance of putting up a good, down and dirty, debate and real politik with Hillary one on one in the national election, so besides the fact that I prefer her over Obama, I also feel Republicans have a better chance nationally against her than the other guy.
So it looks like the world has come a little back to normal tonight.
S.C. is next, right? I think McCain is leading in the polls there, correct?
Looks like the beginning of the end of Huckabee, right?
No big loss to me.
Though, I would have liked to see Thompson do better.
Over all, I think its been a very good night. Im still backing Mitt.
Some candidates do well in some states, others don’t. Fred did campaign some, and he got some votes. He realized a long time ago, that the vast majority of voters in NH weren’t interested in his message, so I think he was wise not to waste any money there. He got some votes, and I’m sure he’s pleased about it. Now it’s on to where the Republican voters ARE more conservative in their outlook, and I think he’ll do well.
I agree. Fred's my guy, but rest assured, if he's not the nominee, then I WILL vote for whoever the Republican nominee happens to be. This country is in WAY too much danger to allow a Democrat to occupy the White House.
This isn't 1992, when we no longer had the over arching threat of the Soviets, and folks felt willing to vote third party, or take a gamble on x42. We don't have that luxury today, and after seeing what 8 years of Democrats in charge got us, I DO NOT want a repeat of that!
Allowing crossover voting or allowing "independents" to decide who the Republican nominee is violates every principle of our two party system.
I really don't think the Republican party should allow any state that allows crossover voting to have a say in the nomination process. They should just tell that state's delegates to take a hike.
No. Huckabee is currently leading. In a choice between Huck and McCain, any Conservative should live in fear.
There is very little difference in political philosophy between Hillary Clinton and John McCain. Intellectually and politically John McCain and Hillary Clinton are opposed sides of the same coin. You get some variation on specific issues like Abortion but over all they share the same philosophical outlook. If anything, McCain has shown himself even more unprincipled then Hillary. Hillary at least will stick to her guns on this or that issue, McCain is total politician who would sell his mother to win a vote.
GOP runs McCain, count this life long Conservative activist out for the season no matter who the Dems run.
With McCain we get politically the worse of both worlds, a mislabled "Conservative" Administration that will play kissy face non stop with the Democrats on everything. We end up getting all the political blame while the Democrats get their political agenda relentlessly advanced by a supposedly "Conservative" President.
Huckabee is liar and a flip-flopper with a liberal record. Intelligent voters see through all that.
His supporters have a habit of projecting his flaws on to others.
POWERS: And another issue thats come up is that you had previously been lobbying President Bush to lift the embargo on Cuba. And then in a recent debate said the opposite. What changed?
HUCKABEE: What changed was Im running for president.
