I don’t think that is the problem most people here have with Romney.

I think it is:

1. His support of gun control

2. RomneyCare with its $50 abortions, deputizing insurance companies to collect a de facto tax, and general socialism;

3. Massive increase in taxes in the form of “fees”

4. Being passionately pro-abortion (including story about family friend who died in back-alley abortion) until a few years ago

5. Being for gays in the military -— saying “don’t ask don’t tell” didn’t go far enough

6. Being for gay Boy Scout leaders

Etc. -— huge changes for a 50+ year old man to make in world outlook -— with NO explaintion

And we have a memory -— recalling George Romney (Mitt’s father) who ran as a surrender in Vietnam Republican -— and lost to Nixon (also a liberal) who ran to the right.

Basically, it’s readily apparent that Romney is a liberal who decided not to repeat his father’s mistakes, and so has decided to pretend to be a conservative.

The constant cries of anti-Mormonism is getting tiresome.

~”I don’t think that is the problem most people here have with Romney.”~

I agree with the “most” part. However, I’ve been growing concerned lately that the minority is larger than we might think. IA is one possible piece of evidence; I’ve been seeing that reasoning on FR for months, and it’s picked up lately.

And Jean Dixon prophecied Romney would win!

lost to Nixon (also a liberal)

I would be hard to convince of that, given that he was a lifelong cold-warrior. He also thought that the aggressive, anarchic, chaotic and strident anti-Americanism of the left was a serious threat to our national survival. That's not really a liberal outlook at all. Yes, he did the unexpected, after listening to Kissinger, I suspect, the inveterate jet-setter, was central to that; but he was closer to being a right-wing gangster than a liberal (IMHO).

+1, My Romney rash is based more on his voting record and observed personality traits

I think Mormons, overall in general have excellent family values and moral character.

I really don't care if the president was, for instance, a Muslim.....IF it were possible for that Muslim to leave his cultural bias and prejudice out of his decision making process.

I do believe certain cultures/religions carry different degrees of innate commitment of allegiance to their own kind than other cultural/religious groups and that concerns me too

Well, I know a churchgoer Republican lady, who is very conservative. I was surprised when she said she will never vote for a Mormon. I think people underestimate this negative feeling toward Mormons. Or simply don't want to say that they still have the negative feeling. Otherwise, it's very difficult to explain his high negative ratings. People can argue that he is a flip-flop or RINO, but I don't think it's enough to explain the number.

BTW, I consider myself Evangelical.

Dont forget Romney’s Mom who ran for office as a extreme anti-life candidate....

Romney was proud of his mother’s pro-choice/pro-abortion stance...

This family for generations have been screaming liberals...

You didn’t post one item that isn’t a lie or a distortion of Romney. Is this from the DNC?

I agree with your political concerns about Romney—he’s definitely nothing but a FAKE conservative... but it’s not bigotry to have religious concerns stronger than political ones.

I’m more than happy to admit that I find the religious prospect of the LDS cult being given unprecedented world-wide legitimacy, status, and prestige outweighs my concern of the political prospect even of a Democrat regime... Like in my life, my RELIGIOUS concerns are deeper than my POLITICAL concerns.

The Republican party was founded in the 1850s out of the moral concerns on two things: 1) Abolition of slavery 2) Abhorrence to Mormon polygamy.

It would be a great irony to elect a president descendant and in agreement with those who preached and practiced #2.

You can count that there are MILLIONS of evangelicals just like me....call it bigotry or whatever you want, I don’t care, but I will not support or vote for a prominent member of a pernicious anti-Christian cult.

One of the most pressing problems is immigration.
Right now. That is my concern.
Who is least likely to give away country or in few years is it going to known as USSNA
United Socialist States of North America.

We could list similar flip flops on the part of Huckabee, all except abortion. What makes Huckabee’s flip flops more acceptable to you?
