What we profess is true not because of what we believe or profess, or even what we do.
It is true because it is true despite us not living perfect lives. We do not profess to be perfect, only that we are attempting to follow Christ when He bids us follow.
Circular Logic 101?
The Jesus of Christianity left us proof for everything he said and did. He fulfilled OT prophecy. He rose from the dead, which was witnessed by hundreds. He ascended into heaven which was witnessed by his disciples. All books of Scripture were written during the Apostolic Era which ended with the death of John. The books that were written were read by other witnesses to the events.
Christians stand on the Rock.
Mormons stand on sinking sand.
Your church is based on tablets that were "discovered" by your founder that supposedly gave a new revelation. There were no other credible witnesses and these tablets have never been put on display. Your church has added to the Scriptures with your BOM and the unsubstantiated claim that the events described in it are true.
The belief of your church that you will evolve into Gods with planets you will rule is not Christian. The belief that God was once a man on another planet and that he evolved into our God is not Christian. The belief that Jesus was a spirit child of God the Father like Satan is not Christian. There is nothing Christian about Mormonism other than the use of the name.
In the end if Romney is the Pub nominee the Rats will win because of this. While you will find a portion of the Christian base willing to vote for him there will be enough who will vote with their feet and that will elect the Rat. As a conservative my best hope at this point is for a brokered convention.
